So I got tasked to take a client to the O's game and Jiminez is on the mound. Let's see if he gets past the third tonight.

Grand slam Cruz missle to tie the game.

The Grand Slam was a fun moment to watch!

I left after the O's decided to give up in the bottom of the 9th. The first two batters each swung at the first pitch and grounded out. Then the backup catcher walked up carrying a grounds keeper's rake and struck out.

Then the grounds crew just ran out there and covered up the field. We headed for the gates and made it back to the vehicle just as the skies opened up.

The Rays are looking for a good time tonight. Maddon sends up the CF, SS, LF, 3B, 1B, DH , and RF as his first seven batters.

But the Tigers have their number so far.

John Lackey's sour grapes.

They good.

John Lackey isn't a good person. But he's a decent pitcher.

It may have been sour grapes (I'd agree that it was), BUT Cruz IS a convicted PED offender! And to preempt the "never tested" argument, ask any judge if "no contest" is the equivalent of a guilty verdict and they will confirm that it is.

And, those facts do seem to be lost at times.

Honestly, I'd bet it was the attempted triple that pissed Lackey off.

Lackey was pissed he lossed. Period. He's a well known tool and showed it again yesterday. It was just funny to me how he answered the question more or less sounding like a 14 year old girl.

What? No judge would say that. No trial, no conviction, no verdict. He'd probably be disbarred if he said that in public.

Red Sox player pissed off by an allegedly disrespectful action? Say it ain't so...

Missed the point. The mlb accused him and he accepted the punishment. It is same as going to an arraignment and pleading no contest. A guilty verdict is entered and it skips a trial and goes directly to sentencing.

Irrelevant point, that just looks like a Red Sox fan starting a throwing motion inside a glass house.

It all started when he was universally doubted for claiming he could do anything that David Ortiz does as good or probably better.

Yeah, Ortiz has been pretty grumpy of late. I guess AK needs to amp the vitriol in order to stay in the lead for that column too!

Universally* doubted.

*by two wiseasses.

But you're right. I'm only 34. I should be in the middle of a career resurgence where my batting average jumps 30 points every year. No PEDs, though.

Not to derail the Sox/Stros thread:

I think that this season is a throwaway for the Sox. They built a WS winner last year. They built an M1 tank with scraps and a few key parts.

However, they got rid of many of the key parts and kept many of the scraps. Unfortunately, some of the key parts aren't as effective as they once were.

Is this the golden age? I'm not saying that.

I am saying that perhaps the reevaluation years between the Theo Epstein Frankensox years and today's team may have, finally, caught up with them.

10 years were spent building a home grown team. This culminated in 2007. The exodus of this talent followed (minus Pedroia). Following, we saw a few lean years. We waited to see what was going to be next.

Cherington built a winner out of left overs and a few key parts. But, you can only grease an old CV joint for so long. Eventually, it just goes out. It is Physics (or Biology in this case)

I think that this year will require some hard conversations in the front office. Or, they planned for this all along.

Chowdah, the farm is in good shape. The PawSox have some very good looking pieces. The key will be moving the talent to the bigs and managing expectations. The FO has the pieces to move if they want to bring in a known commodity as well.

That remains to be seen. However I am, admittedly removed from it since my personal move away from Maine.

The PawSox are the 4th string. Many players in Pawtucket will NEVER see the inside of Fenway without a ticket or a mass injury situation.

The double A is what I am concerned with.

A few seasons ago there were 11 or so former Sea Dogs (AA team) that were in the All Star Game.

There were 7 Former Sea Dogs in Fenway daily; 5-6 starters daily.

We're down to 2 to 4 depending on the lineups.

That has me concerned.

Admittedly, the Sox have let players go!

Justin Masterson was let go.
Hanley Ramirez was let go.
Arroyo was let go.

But they had a pipeline to replace them.

Who's replaced Youkilis? Ellsbury? Free agents.

I'd rather be in the ER than deal with the fawning and worship that will be the Jeter love fest tonight.

So my nurse is nice and cool, but not really that hot. And the TV is an ancient CRT, maybe 19". Mel Gibson in Road Warrior or Mel Gibson in Signs.

AK - I hope you're feeling better. Board has been boring this year with the the usual suspects just sucking it up.

But believe it or not, there ARE more important things than baseball. Our board is better with you here.
