Ells was signed as a draft pick and received 1 contract from boston. He came up through the system and signed a new deal the 1st time he became a FA. You should know that chowdah.

damon got the vitriol he got because he played on the team that broke the curse, then proceeded to sign with the enemy. He was also offered a comparable deal to stay in boston. With Ells it's different because they've experienced so much success in the last 10 years that folks know it's not a fluke. The Sox will still be contenders most years without him, and as previously stated, the mfy gave him way more than what he's worth. Boston would have been stupid to match.

And who made you the aribter of whether Jeter should or shouldn't get applauded in Fenway? Sox fans in Fenway WILL applaud Jeter.

Yankee fans did applaud Yaz in a huge standing ovation. Yaz left the batters box, took off his helmet, raised both hands and did a full 360. It was the Yankee fans way of saying "we've hated you for 20 years but we respect and admire what you've done and we'll miss the competition. Jeter will get the same this season in Fenway. I know that you don't get it. But you've not lived it so I don't expect you to. The world does not exist in your boxed view of it.
