Now being reported there's a 4th player headed to Philly

It always good to trade away Derek Fishers. Damn them all.

Some dummy posted that we had traded springer and got me all worked up!

Why are you so high on Fisher? We have like 12039812738 outfielders that project well, it's a spot we can and should give up talent in trades

Still a good deal

We avoided giving away any players at a position of need. We hung on to Reed, White, Kemp.

While I think VV will be a good player he was just getting lost in the shuffle. We tried to get him in last year and it just didn't work with the addition of Fiers. He's a good young pitcher but very expendable.

I really like Giles. With Qualls out and Giles in we're light years better than we were at the end of the season.

Uneventful rule 5 draft for us: no players selected, no players lost

Ultimately, I think the trade was good for both sides. We filled an immediate need that was never more obvious than in the playoffs, and the Phillies got a group of players that could help them in a year or two. Like I said before, you can't hang onto every prospect. We've lost some good ones over the past couple of years that will likely be productive big leaguers, but that's why you stockpile your farm system with them.

The team is shaping up well. We need to add a lefty to the pen and it would be nice to add some more heat. Hopefully Riley Ferrell can iron out his control issues and be fast tracked next year. That would be a huge addition with his stuff. The corner infield spots are still a little shaky. If we don't add anyone, I think we have the guys to get more production from those positions, but it'll be an unknown going into the season.

3/$18,000,000 for Sipp. Man pitching has gotten expensive.

Sipp did have an ERA under 2, so it was probably unreasonable to expect him to come cheap.

Position of need. And Sipp has been getting the job done. I guess this means that we're not even looking to improve the corner infield positions. I'm curious to see what the final verdict is on Kazmir. On one hand, he was **** down the stretch. On the other hand, he had a pretty solid first half of the season...

Between Sipp, Harris, and Giles..... We will have 3 relievers that had an ERA under two. Throw in Gregerson and Neshek and you have a damn good bullpen.

I think Kazmir just got worn down as the season went on. He was lights out in Oakland, and his first couple of months in Houston were just as good. I think if we monitor his innings, maybe even skip him in the rotation every now and then, it could help keep him sharp throughout the year.

Of course, none of that matters if he's looking for an ungodly amount of money.

No. Thats the same bullpen minus Qualls and Giles that **** the bed during the division race last year.

Resigning Sipp is OK. Giles is a massive upgrade. I dont want Neshek back

Our bullpen is talented but got worn down in September and October. Manage the pen better during the year (looking at you AJ) and we'll be fine.

we could've signed nobody, but just getting rid of qualls felt like an upgrade.

ERA for relief pitchers is the worst indicator of success. Majority of runs they give up don't go their ERA. Look at holds, runs, and K/9. Being able to come on and K guys with runners on is huge.

Neshek was pitching in pain with a fractured foot I think. He's had surgery so hopefully he will be better this year. Didn't we sign him for two years?

better get used to him. Under contract this year and we have a team option on him for 17.

If we can get a 3b now I'll be happy... Even though I still don't like Castro.

Yeah we really need a corner infielder. Valbuena and Singleton aren't gonna cut it.

Surely Reed or White can step up. Still want a 3b though. Valbuena, Rasmus, Castro, Gattis, and Singleton are way too many low average/high strikeout guys for my liking. I imagine that Tucker will get DH opportunities this year too.

Oh yeah I love Reed and White. I just don't want to fully rely on them being big league ready this year. I want someone who can play third base and make contact with the ball.

I haven't read it yet, but fangraphs is the best.

Fangraphs is trash half of the time. It depends on who is writing. Half of their **** is taking incredibly small sample sizes, admitting their isn't enough sample to deem anything from, and then writing an entire article slanted one way or another while always writing favorably about their golden boys and anyone in the northeast/chicago.

They are literally wrong almost every time they write an opinion, and Dave Cameron is so biased for/against certain teams and players that his writing cones across as childish and petty.

Only decent 3B available in free agency is David Freeze and he's not an upgrade over Valbuena. I'm actually fine with Luis at 3B. Have you looked at his splits from last year? He was a much better hitter later in the season, and that might have been due to the extra rest he was given in the second half of the season. He had surgery to remove a bunion on his left foot in October, which Luhnow said had to be managed throughout the season.

Pre All-Star .199/.285/.430
Post All-Star .270/.359/.453

He also batted .158 versus lefties, so he's a candidate to sit for 20-30 games when we face lefties to get Marwin in the lineup. At this point, free agency isn't an option for 3B and I wouldn't sacrifice anymore prospects for the hot corner.

Wow! Didn't realize he played that well after the break.

I'm fine with Valbuena. Remember, we gave up Dexter Fowler for him, so I'm not against giving him another shot. Plus he was pretty good defensively as well.

Still don't know what to feel about Singleton though. If he is in fact our everyday 1B Luhnow, please don't give him the same long a$$ leash you gave Carter last year.

Singleton seemed to start figuring it out in that series against Texas, and then was mysteriously benched. Not sure what happened, but I was disappointed we didn't get to see more of him.

Our lineup makes me a little giddy if everyone would get going at the same time. Correa, Springer, and Gomez should all be batting over .275 and hitting homers.

Can we sign Colby Lewis just so we don't have to face him?
