I knew the Texans were doomed when I found out Biggio was their honorary captain.

I love the guy but when it comes to playoff success (besides 04 and 05) he and his teams were snakebit.

I would have to think long and hard on that one.

Inciarte > Springer
Freeman > Reed
Tucker - Jury still out

I love Springer and wouldn't mind seeing him retire an Astro, but this is intriguing.

EDIT - FWIW people in those comments are simply readers throwing trades out there. No substantial sources or speculation.

Stats over the past 2 years.

Inciarte - .292/.329/.386 in 250 games
Springer - .256/.354/.463 in 180 games

It's pretty damn close. And looking closely it may not be worth the risk, but knowing Springer and his injuries it may be a risk not to.

At worst we'd be breaking even on Springer, and upgrading immensely at 1B with Freeman.

And I agree overall. Freeman is the prize. You give up what you think is a MLB ready 1B/DH with a good amount of hype, a top 3 player on a very good roster, and a high first round pick a few years away. Seems like alot, but its worth looking at.

For the leadership Springer brings to the table, I would struggle to find a player comparable (that another team would give up). The combination listed here would add a good bit more average to our otherwise feast or famine lineup.

How about we just don't give up Springer?

I like giving Singleton / Reed a chance. Even if they're bad we can still make the playoffs as referenced by this past year with Carter.

True, but I don't want to rely on our starters to carry the load as much as they did last year. I want our O to carry more of the burden. The margin of error is just too small without added quality arms to our rotation.

For me, that isn't close at all... In karate is a singles hitter... Not a big difference in getting a single and taking a walk. And I see Springer improving on that average if he can stay healthy. Is he an upgrade over Springer defensively?

You also can't replace his clubhouse presence.

I would trade Reed and someone else for Freeman.... Probably

She was awful in the CWS. Just horrible. ESPN does realize that there's huge differences between softball and baseball, right? They're two completely different sports.

She co hosted baseball tonight last year and her analysis was always weird. She'd say things like "When I was playing..." or "My experience playing taught me..."; it was just odd

But ESPN gana ESPN....They already HAVE to have every race on EVERY broadcast so, now it'll be every sex & gender on every broadcast. Next, they'll have to have at least one gay or transgender person too.
