I honestly thought we were dead. We lost three games to tie breakers in singles, lost the doubles point (again!), and still won. What a testament to the fortitude of our tennis ladies. We also had the crowd against us.
Well done!
Gig'em
Lopata was cramping and she's a counter puncher. She is a great player. Made it the individual NCAA final in 2024.RED AG 98 said:
The girl on 6 isn't all that shocking though. It's the pusher on line 1 that I just don't get, esp not somewhere like UGA.
That was just their style of play. They could probably play more conventionally, but due to match context and injury they were trying some weird stuff. Lopata has bona fides.hlsr said:
Georgia should be embarrased by the brand of tennis in those last two matches. One girl can't even hit a topspin forehand and hacks at everything and the other is a pusher galore. Neither worked for them and the Lady Ags make them pay!!!!

For those who don't keep as close tabs, is there bad blood between Weaver and Szabo or is it just fan speculation?
What is this "cheating" accusation I hear about Szabo?

Lopata has been our absolute kryptonite for years.
I didn't look it up but I'm not sure we've ever beaten her in a dual match. If we did it was likely her freshman year.
Her strategy was honestly brilliant. She had no chance playing Lu straight up as we saw in the first set. So she decided to give her nothing and she is a brilliant mover that never misses.
But Lulu beat her at her own game. On her home court. In front of all her fans. In her last college match ever.
Lulu is an absolute it a legend.

Now it's time to beat that cheating loser from Auburn
I’ve seen a lot of college tennis moments in a lot of places over the years. That Perez vs Lopata match with that atmosphere may have just topped them all pic.twitter.com/e6yTcDe6HI

Dramatic scene as Texas A&M’s Lucciana Perez (plays a lot like Jasmine Paolini) outlasts Anastasiia Lopata of Georgia in three sets to clinch the 4-3 #NCAATennis semifinal win as both players were cramping in the final set pic.twitter.com/75iU1J20kn
