The second Lalo showed up to the apartment, I had to pause it, pace around my living room, and compose myself. I've never done that for any show, ever. What followed was not only the best scene of the series, but one of the best of the entire Breaking Bad universe. Unbelievable. Kim is the GOAT.

Funny you said that because last week I had to pause it and just absorb the oh s*** moment when Lalo walked in the room with Kim before I could watch it.

I really like the way this scene was written and shot. I don't like Ozark because I don't feel like it has much regard for the viewer, it sucker punches you all the time and so you watch it with a flinching eye and when a scene doesn't end in something bad it's good.

But with Mike sitting on the roof, you see that he's got Lalo in his sights. You can watch the scene with interest and fear and apprehension, but you also have the safety that if something goes real wrong, Mike is there to clean it up.

We didn't know Mike was there last week when Saul was in danger but this week with Kim the one in danger, I felt like it was very considerate to the viewer to have Mike on the roof.

Next week's episode is titled "Something Unforgivable."

Mike being there gave me no sense of safety or relief, personally. I was CONVINCED that Mike was gonna accidentally shoot her head off by trying to get Lalo.

Another good scene was Gus telling Mike that he will not cut Nacho loose. The look on Gus's face during that scene. Intense.

Awesome episode. I really like Lalo's character.

He has become pretty damn awesome

Lalo seems to be the only clever Salamanca. The others all seem only capable of violence and intimidation - which can be enough at a lower level of leadership but Lalo seems like someone capable of running the entire operation.

I agree, but he also still clearly has the sadistic streak in him which always end up being to his detriment

Lalo is a great character

Surely he isn't alive in BB timeline though? Gus tells Hector, basically, that all of his living heirs are now dead (toward the end of their nursing home chats).

The Twins and Tuco must be all that are left when BB starts, because theres no rationale for Lalo being alive but out of the game.

Right?

If he's dead, Saul doesn't know about it.

yep, decent summary on BB wiki i just came across-

https://breakingbad.fandom.com/wiki/Lalo_Salamanca

"Lalo's fate by the start of Breaking Bad is unknown. In the episode "Better Call Saul", Jimmy as Saul Goodman mistakes Walt and Jesse for Lalo's men, which would suggest he survived during the events of Better Call Saul. However, in the episode "Crawl Space", Gus taunts Hector that the entire Salamanca family, aside from Hector, is dead. So it's possible that he died somewhere between those two episodes."

Don Eladio seemed to understand that Lalo was the root of many of Fring's "misfortunes". Although Lalo's actions were good for the Salamancas, they weren't beneficial for the cartel as a whole.

I suspect that Eladio may deal with Lalo when he returns to Mexico, and Saul would never know about it.

Right?
My wild ass guess is that Lalo's arc will conclude shortly after Saul's first appearance in the Breaking Bad timeline, which will be next season sometime.

Seeing many articles that Rhea Seehorn (Kim) deserves the Emmy. Do you think the actor who plays Lalo deserves an nod?

So many actors on this show can be nominated for best supporting actor (Mike, Gus, Nacho, Lalo).

The show is great but this season I don't see anyone deserving of an emmy for their performance other than Rhea.

All that said...the Emmy's every year prove to be a massive joke in general so who really cares.

I was about 20 minutes behind the live show streaming the episode off YouTube TV. When it froze just as Kim started barking at Lalo, I was *this* close to putting a firestick remote sized hole through my tv.

Who else kept rewinding the truck stop scene to see the logos on the trucks looking for a chicken supplier, a Madrigal logo, or The Uncut Pizza Company?

I am almost positive that Lalo gets killed next season, and his death will be incorporated into the BB timeline in a way we haven't considered yet.

I fully expect next season to take place just before, during, and after the BB timeline.

What court case did Saul **** up?

Unless it was just there to show how rattled Saul still is.

Honestly I think it was that simple.

Probably but it still seems odd to me that Jimmy was that concerned about a nothing client to pick up & go in his physical condition.
If you've ever been thru a traumatic situation, sometimes you think getting back to normal routine will distract you and fix everything. It doesn't.

When Saul answered that phone and I knew exactly what was happening.
Saul's motivation in court is getting a time window to meet with Mike. He's already in a lie with Kim, and with her in mother hen mode, he can pass off the time away as being in court.

My first thought was he did it to get a meeting with Mike as well, but I think he might have actually not called Mike until ater using the client call as an excuse to get away

Yes, because he did actually go to court and lose the case or issue or whatever it was.

Lalo

great performance but even greater character/role. IMO they could have cast 50 other actors who would have done just as good with it.

Disagree. The actor is perfect for the role.

I disagree too. I think his mannerisms and facial expressions are why he's so good. Another actor could've played it totally differently. How he goes from smiling to complete serious is great. You never know what to expect from him because of that and it creates great tension.

Put me in the camp that thinks Kim killed Nacho last night. She triggered an instinct in Lalo's mind that made him question what's been nagging him. He's taking Nacho to Mexico and I think they both end up dead down there by the end of the series but her blitz last night will be the trigger point for what gets Nacho killed.

What was the reason it was so important that Saul not tell Lalo that he got attacked and someone else tried to take the money?

The only obvious thing I can think of is that he would have no way of explaining that Mike took out the bad guys and therefore letting out that he is working with Mike, who is working for Gus. Does Lalo know that Mike works for Gus?

Why couldn't he say someone tried to take the money and he got in a gun fight and won? I guess that Saul winning a gun fight seemed too far fetch?
