Dumb me never realized the guy arrested messing with the gutter was Crazy 8.

Even when Lalo called him Ocho Loco?
Even when he's been in the previous 3 seasons of BCS?

Better Call Saul Insider podcast.

They had Vince Gilligan (he's on most of them) and Jonathan Banks on this one.

Speaking of Banks:

-he's not getting any younger, is he?
-and what do you make of his outburst with his granddaughter? Frustration about how his choices brought his son down and how he's in too deep now with Gus?

When they showed him at the poker table, I recognized his face and knew that I should know him but its been 2 years since season 4 of BCS so it took me a while to figure it out.

Mike was a dirty cop, and dirty cops killed his son, and Mike killed those dirty cops. He got upset being asked about how good and smart his son was. And of course, what Mike is now is much worse. He just had to whack a guy he liked (even though it seems like a long long time ago) and he's in deep.

Out of character, and even Banks said he didnt necessarily agree with the direction they took with Mike there. Still, I could understand it considering he had just killed Werner and his granddaughter was pressing him for info on his son. I could see this leading to the tension we saw between Mike and his daughter in law in BB.

I could see him snapping at her, and then immediately regretting it. But it seemed like hours later, when the daughter in law came home, he was still in a pissy mood about it. That part I did not like, and it seemed out of character.

Yep, they made it a point to show a massive amount of beer bottles. With a hangover like that, he could have torched the whole jungle jim.

Considering it's been ages since the previous season, someone please remind me of Nacho and Saul's earlier interaction(s).

I kind of recall it also involved Mike, but I can't remember the specifics.

Thanks

Nacho was there when Saul talked Tuco out of killing him and the skateboard scam artists who tried to shake down Tuco's grandmother.

Nacho then tries to get Saul to help him steal the embezzelled money from the Kettlemans. Saul declines and anonymously warns the Kettlemans that Nacho is coming. They call the cops, who arrest Nacho outside their house when they find blood in his van from the skateboarders. The police think Nacho kidnapped the Kettlemans. Nacho warn Saul that if the cops connect Nacho to Tuco, then Tuco will kill Saul. This forces Saul to find the Kettlemans in the desert near their home and to convince them to come back.

I sincerely appreciate the detailed response, but was t that from the BB universe?
I was asking about an instance or event from BSC.

Or is the upcoming episode the initial meeting of Nacho and Jimmy?

It is prudent to go back on Wikipedia and read through the episode synopsis for the previous seasons. I too had forgotten the connection between SG and Nacho.

Oh, and this place has rules...

Nacho had no prior connection to Saul Goodman. But he did have one to Jimmy McGill.

So I had PSVue, and when they went away we switched over to Hulu. I tried to go on the AMC app last night to watch and I can't, only YouTube TV. Any suggestions? I really don't want to wait for Netflix

You can watch last night's ep on AMC for free without a login right now.

https://www.amc.com/shows/better-call-saul/full-episodes
So it let me watch the first episode, then says my free pass is up. Anybody have any other options?

After every crime, idiots yell '50% off!!'

That was such a great opening sequence.

Cool to see how the storyline comes together.

Was so cool seeing Forster return in episode 1.

Man, that Gene storyline has me hooked. Sucks we probably won't get another scene till next season.

Solid start to the season.

Now on to episode 2.

It sure felt like an alcoholic outburst, but outside of that scene where he woke up with all the empties, there's no evidence of Mike dealing with addiction. Maybe just irritated from the hangover as someone else mentioned.

What happened to his son that was so bad that when his granddaughter Kept asking him about him it set him off like that? I'm assuming he was killed in the line of duty as a cop. Maybe that's why Mike left the Philadelphia PD in a bad way (if I recall DEA Hank ribbing him about it in the last season).
Mike was so cool and composed in all ways. His so was the weak spot?

I've so enjoyed Breaking Bad and now BCS. Nothing tops it as a multiple season series.

I'm excited how this new 5th season is going.

I forget if it's season 1 or 2 but mike explains it all! It's a great scene! You have got to watch it. Basically he was killed for Mike being a dirty cop.

Here, found it for you!!!

His son wouldn't take dirty money from fellow cops and was considering informing. He asked Mike what to do, Mike says he's a dirty cop himself and instead of going to IA, advises him to take the $ to avoid arousing suspicion with the other cops. But his son was too slow to take it, so they kill him anyway.

So the granddaughter going on about how great her dad was, while hungover Mike knows he played a role in his death and just killed what seemed like another good guy, got to Mike
