I'll preface by saying I already am loving this show...

but does every modern sidekick/apprentice/protege/whatever have to be a smartass, joke cracking, look at me type?

It just depends if the superhero is the straight guy or the funny guy. I would say it's reversed in Dr. Strange and Wong.

The "K" in Stark was destroyed in the Avengers, yet is still on the building in Hawkeye.

The battle is still ongoing in that scene. The K hasn't been destroyed yet.

Does anyone else wonder if Kate's dad isn't dead, or, if he is dead, whether there's more to his death than aliens killed him during the attack? It is very suspicious that Kate spent so much time walking around her apartment during the attack on NY, yelling for her parents without either of them showing up for quite a while. + the offscreen death of a parent is *always* suspect in Hollywood.

So, theories, either
Kate's dad is still alive, or
A villain we will meet this season killed him, or
Kate's mom killed her dad (unlikely)

One last theory that ties to this - the villains said they were looking for a watch from the rubble of the Avengers compound. Didn't the Avengers time travel with watch-like devices? If so: Theory - The villains are trying to get a time travel watch. Kate or Hawkeye will end up traveling back to the invasion of NY where Kate will discover what really caused her father's death and/or Hawkeye will get to meet or talk to Black Widow one last time in a surprise cameo.

That is such an out there idea considering how much they have borrowed from Aja/Fraction.

Honestly didnt Tony store one of his suits in a watch? Could be a throwaway line to set up Armor Wars

The shot of the watch looked different, and they don't have Pym particles.

Why are you using spoiler tags for that?

With spoiler tags, I like to err on the side of caution, and used them since I mentioned several plot developments in my post.

Did we see the watch? I thought it was mentioned, but never seen.

Yea it definitely wasn't anything like the watch they used to navigate through time in Endgame. Who knows what this one is for! I loved the first two episodes
Dr. Mephisto

Had no expectations, and I thought the 1st 2 episodes were very entertaining.

I love NY as a setting, especially at Christmas.

I was far more engaged with this than Loki, which I really wanted to like. It took me about 2 months to get through 4 episodes. I still have 2 to go, and my urgency to do so is non-existent. Maybe eventually.

But Hawkeye?

Recommend for easy and watchable entertainment.

So is it confirmed yet that the leader of the red jumpsuit mafia is Mephisto?

Definitely seems like Hawkeye will be better for casual watching than Loki, which was great but required a lot of investment.

No. Mephisto is the ant man in the Broadway show.

Was talking about the show and someone thought I said "hot guy" instead of "Hawkeye." Now I hear hot guy every time they say it in the tv show.

I think it tracks. They have been portrayed as a great team and he's not one to keep secrets from her. I actually thought it was a great twist on the tired deal where the spy husband keeps everything from his wife and she thinks he's a traveling salesman or something.

In the comic run this is loosely based on he's often referred to as Hawkguy

Loving this so far (especially as a huge fan of the Fraction/Aja comic), it's fun and a bit over the top and just entertaining. Looking forward to seeing where they take the story.

Finally watched the first two episodes last night with the wife. This was a very easy show to get into, unlike Loki, and we really enjoyed it. When does the next episode drop?

Enjoyed the first two episodes so far. Steinfeld is great as Kate Bishop, really solid casting. She has solid banter with Clint.

I've been reading the run in the comics the show is based on and it's also entertaining, with some notable differences. I do enjoy in both the tv show and the comic they are really hammering home that when Clint isn't Hawkeye, part of the Avengers, he's just Clint. He's just a guy, no superpowers, no secret identity either (other than the public doesn't know he was Ronin.) He gets hurt when he gets hit, he's not a god, he's not impervious to pain or injury, has no superhuman powers. This is like a buddy cop movie for the most part, and I'm liking it.

While I've enjoyed WandaVision, Loki, and Falcon & TWS I really appreciate that this is a simple story, not complicated, not part of the multiverse, not political, it's just there for simple entertainment. Your mind isn't being overwhelmed by any aspects of Hawkeye and with some of what's coming in the MCU it feels like that is being overlooked.

Definitely. While I've enjoyed each of the shows for different aspects, this one is the 'fun ride' I've been waiting for. And I like it being set under the backdrop of Christmas with all the Christmas music thrown in.

Still watching, but had to come on to gush about the chase scene. Super fun, and the cinematography at the beginning showing it from their perspective was awesome.

Yeah, I really loved the whole episode, but the way they shot the chase scene was outstanding. Can't wait to see where they take us next week.
