Anyone even notice Betty Brant, spiderman's first girlfriend from the '60's comics?

Yeah, she was the student reporter talking about Peter's return to school, right?

You are correct! She was prominent in the early comics, but virtually unknown in the movie versions. I just wondered how many even remember or know about her at all.

But apparently she's not totally forgotten.

That actress also had a prominent role on HBOs "Mare of East Town"

She's great. But she was also great in the last two.

The Dr. Strange preview at the end seems remarkably similar to his standalone from the What If?

Moments where my theater lost its absolute ****:

- First appearance of Doc Ock and Green Goblin
- Daredevil
- Norman's face unmasked
- "I'm something of a scientist myself"
- "With great power comes great responsibility"
- Andrew Garfield in portal
- When MJ says they'll keep trying till they get the right Peter
- Tobey
- The three Peters pointing at each other
- All three Spider-Man swinging into the moon and landing/posing together
- Garfield saving MJ
- Peter hugging the other Peters
- Credits for Andrew and Tobey

And I mean absolutely crazy. Kicking game winning FG to beat Bama crazy.
Not sure if it's already been said. But loved when Tobey kept telling Garfield "you are amazing"

I wanted Garfield to say, "well, you are spectacular!"

I liked it, but I thought Dafoe, Tobey & Andrew lifted an otherwise aggressively mediocre movie into a top 2 Spider-Man movie. 8.5/10

Another $19 million on Friday has it to $405 million. Will pass Ironman 3, civil war, and original spiderman on Christmas, and pass captain marvel today or tommorrow. That just leaves the 4 avengers movies and black panther ahead of it for marvel films.

Saw it today (2nd time) this time with my family. Very much enjoyed 2nd viewing. Still had some fun reactions but you could tell this was a less "MCU-head" crowd. Matt Murdoch scene went completely over everyone's heads.

Only bad part was there was a family that brought a crying baby to the theater… 2 times they had to cross the entire row tone it the theater only to come back… the first time they went I was annoyed but hoped that maybe they wouldn't return and ruin a more tender quiet scene like Aunt Mays scene…. And sure enough the second crying departure was exactly then.

I love kids…. Have 4 of them… but bringing a baby to the theater makes no sense to me.

And by the way… I'll see it a third time… it's really a fun ride… totally RE-watchable!

Saw it again tonight with family. I actually enjoyed it more the second time through. Same criticisms.

But more impressed with:
  • First 5-10 mins and the chaos (prior to visiting Strange)
  • Bridge fight scene with Doc Oc. Brilliant.
  • Dafoe

They do so point at each other... I think it's the "asking for Peter and they all answer" scene

Yep! Ned keeps calling out Peter and they keep pointing at each other - no costume.

Also a little bit of pointing near the end when they're identifying who is 1, 2, and 3.

Took the 7yo. We've been to a few movies the past couple years, and would have been to more, but there's not been much.

That boy was mesmerized. You can't replace the moviegoing experience, and that was the first thing we've had in 2 years that was 100% back to normal. Handed him the very rare Coke, which he never touched, bc he was too enthralled. The last time I saw him that sucked in… was Far From Home.

Hope the smashing financial success of this one means, we back! The total loss of the movie theatre experience, and it's inability to recover, has been one of the worst crushes of the past 2 years.

Yeah, I missed that because I normally only read your posts for humorous content. That one didn't deliver so I checked out partway through.

This was a really good movie.
It clicked on so many levels.

It is in the top tier of the MCU.

That's what living rooms are for.
There is having a normal reaction, and going over the top like you are cheering for a touchdown. One of those is real, and the other is faked for effect.
The good news is, the people that LIKE having those reactions generally have specific/known theaters to all go to. So at this point, if you attend that showing its on you if you get mad about it.

awesome movie

Went and saw it a second time. Still a very tight movie; very well executed. Still not a fan of all the story choices but I can't say they didn't pull it off about as well as possible. Acting talent amount the villains is just top notch.

Holy hell, Spider-Man makes $24.76 million on Monday. Up to $495 million, now in 16th place all-time.

Next in the line of fire are:

15. Beauty and the Beast 2016 $504 million
14. Rise of Skywalker: $515 milion
13. Rogue One: $532 million
12. Dark Knight: $534 million
11.Lion King (2019 one): $543 million

After that you have to get to $600 million to get into the top 10 - Incredibles 2 sitting 10th at $608 million. But this thing has a whole other 6-7 days of lots of people going to see it all the time because of the holidays. It's snowballing similar to how The Force Awakens snowballed in 2015 where Avatar's record just vanished in 2 weeks.

$495 million in 11 days is pretty epic especially in COVID. By comparison, Force Awakens was at $571 million after 11 days.
