Had I gone into this movie completely cold, I would have had a worse experience. I wouldn't have known to do a rewatch of the prior Spider-Man movies, and would have resulted in having to answer questions from my wife non stop during the movie.

Great movie. Lot of fun for those who have been there since the beginning.

Did anyone else notice the lack of large street crowds and people in the film? Ie "extras" in the city scenes? It had a weird feeling like an early video game with sparse atmosphere vs modern video games full of moving people and real life environments. For such an epic movie, that probably made it feel a little less less epic. Also looked like Jonah Jameson was filming from a quarantine situation.

I assume this was due to filming during COVID, although COVID is not part of the movie, thank goodness. Probably saved the studio some money on extras.

made another $52 million this weekend to slide past Incredibles 2 and up to $609 million, #10 all time.

Box office will drop way off with everyone going back to work and school this week, but it's only $11 million behind The Last Jedi and $14 million behind Avengers now. That might be the upper limit, but just depends how long it stays in the theaters for and when the next hot thing comes along (Batman in March I presume) - Jurassic World is 7th at $652 million, Titanic is 6th at $659 million.

It's been in theaters and making money like crazy for like two and half weeks. It'll still make money on the weekends. I think it's got a while yet left in theaters.

Jameson was low budget and home based until his mysterio story gave him legitimacy and funds

Oh I'm not saying it won't make money, but it can't be making $15-$20 million a day once kids are back at school and most people's vacation time is over. I'm sure it will make another good chunk on MLK weekend. Going to take my daughter to see it then I think.

It's kind of crazy to me how planned out the MCU apparently is, but then isn't at all at times either…

Saw it Monday. Was awesome.

So, Monday at 11:45 (with school still out) you get a smallish crowd of families and seniors who possibly never saw the previous iterations of Spiderman, and certainly didn't watch Daredevil. I'm fairly confident in the only one who knew wtf was going on all movie.

It really is very rewatchable. Not sure how far up the charts it can go with another holiday weekend to play with…

Impressive.

Up to $631 million. Jurassic World is at $652 million. Seems like it has a real chance to get there by the end of MLK weekend.

Not to keep bagging the Matrix, but it was down to $318,000 on Wednesday. It's at $32.17 million in 15 days. The only thing it's beating is The King's Man, which is a piss-poor $21.3 million in the same 15 days.

Meanwhile Sing 2 destroying them both combined in the same time frame, on its way to $100 million this weekend.

There's a part of me that wants that team up to happen again and another part that's pretty sure it would be contrived and lame if it ever did.

My guess is the team-up will be a one-time thing only, but I get the feeling, if the circumstances are *just* right, we MIGHT get another Andrew Garfield Spidey movie in his universe. After NWH, the fans want it, Garfield literally just said he'd be open to it, and you know Sony wouldn't turn down the $$$. It'd just be about finding the right story that presented just the right hook to make enough sense for us to go back to that world, after everything that's happened.

I generally assume there's no way they do that again, but I'd definitely be down for another Garfield movie. He did great with what he was given. Maybe go further with the redemption theme from catching MJ.

Really interested in how they bring in a live action Miles Morales. If he'll be joining the universe of one of these established spidermen or if he'll get his own new universe.

Some are wondering if Morbius is in the Garfield verse given the oscorp design from His movie

That crossover did some solid things though beyond the movie. No reason Sony can't still do their own thing now while also working with Marvel.

I think they are both in another mcu movie and Garfield has another solo.

If we could somehow get a Kraven's Last Hunt movie with Tobey or Andrew that would be awesome.

I could see all of them having voice cameos in an Into The Spider-verse Movie.

I think Sony and MCU can do 3 spiderman franchise ..

Universe 1: Tobey McGuire can do the older spiderman movie that introduces May Parker.
May "Mayday" Parker is the daughter of Peter and Mary Jane Parker in the future, alternate universe continuity. Peter and Mary Jane named their daughter after his Aunt May.

In this case, she would be Tobey's daughter and after the event of NWH, Tobey loses his arm. He tries to talk her out of being Spiderman.. she of course disagree and tries to pick up the mantle.

Universe 2: Andrew can continue with the Sinster six story and have him meet Venom and Morbius. This universe would be a darker universe but shows Andrew getting over the lost of Emma. This is where we would do Kraven Last Hunt

Universe 3: MCU .. Tom start to mentors Morales .. they should have MJ dying in the beginning w/ Ned doing everything he can to bring her back.. mixing magic and technology ... he turns into the HobGoblin. He no longer has memory of Tom and their Friendship. (or whatever Kevin says... cause he keeps surprising me)

Wrap them up with a Spiderman into the Multiverse movie.. where all three meet again w/ SpiderGwen, Morales and May Parker.. 6 spidermans ... 2 per universe. .. since this is a multiverse story.. the villain should be Doctor Doom. Magic and science vs 6 Spiderman.. Doctor Doom summon past villains to hunt down spidermans in hopes of slowing them down. He can even use magic to tempt them to join him by promising to bring back someone they love. Toby - Uncle ben, Andrew - Gwen, Tom - Aunt May. Doom wants to destroy the other verses which will cause the death of Andrew and Tobey worlds.. they are trying to stop him.

Sorry for the rambling.. but that is why I am not a writer.

So does Tobey swing around with 1 arm in this new spider verse?

In the May Parker storyline.. Tobey actually quit being Spiderman and ends up mentoring her.

Thoughtful and well-informed but I gotta say, personally - I don't want any of that at all.

We already get a Spider-Man movie every 2 years - can't say I want to triple that.

Another $8 million on Friday puts it at $644 million. Jurassic world is at $652:and Titanic at $659. When it passes those 2, marvel will have #2 #4 #5 #6 #9 all time domestic. The milk holiday weekend will give it a chance to catch infinity war at $678 for 5th all-time.

A lot has already been said but I'm late to the party and just caught up.

A- so glad that the writers didn't make a MJ and Ned a couple but still just friends after forgetting Peter.

B- I'd love an outtake or special feature about the scene where Ned is opening a portal to find Peter and just have an outrageous variety of Spiderman and odd actors playing Peter come thru.

C- I wonder if Ned's latent magic ability might give him a resistance to Stranger's spell so that he might get images of Peter in dreams and such. I'd love for the writers to go dark with it and have him in an asylum within 5 years without making him a villain. Not crazy, just locked up for seeming crazy then get redeemed by our Peter.

D- I don't know why they included Sandman and Lizard but gave them so little. Sandman's motivation was inconsistent with being an ally then a villain. I haven't seen Venom 2 but am happy Eddie Brock was not in the main movie.

E- I'm a bit upset Matt Murdock was not seen more (kind of a gun on the wall hinted at early in the movie but never seen again) but I guess a cameo during all the fan service was better than nothing.

F- The Punisher started as a Spidey villain. Too bad they didn't do a redneck/JJJ follower turned Spidey hunter in this movie, especially with Peter being outed early in the movie so that everyone knew where he lived. A failed sniping could have been the impetus to force Peter and May to a new location.

G- I was a bit bummed that Happy, Peter, and whomever never used more Stark tech (does Happy ever get a suit in the comics? You'd think Tony would have some nano suit for his best friend after Pepper for emergencies) but I guess the seizure of Stark tech early on by damage control or whatever their name was could explain it. Some Stark tech might have saved May.

H- it was said previously but again, I applaud that scene during the brawl at Happy's where Peter is punching Goblin and Dafoe keeps the insane grin going. Also, I enjoyed the writing where Strange chastises Peter for considering magic to fix his college admission before even thinking of calling/writing to appeal.

This movie was a lot like Endgame to me. Not the greatest movie but packed full of fan service moments that made it enjoyable.

Into the Spider-verse remains the greatest Spidey movie and I'm glad there is a sequel headed our way.

Edit to add to B. Be fun to see a Tom Cruise and Christian Slater Spidey come thru a portal.
