A few miscellaneous thoughts:

1) The MCU has forgotten that Peter is Spider-Man, but they still know Spider-Man. Spidey could team up with the Avengers, and they'd remember that they'd teamed up with him before, without knowing that he's a teenager, or that they've seen him without his mask.

In the comics, Spidey has been an Avenger without the other Avengers knowing he was so young. That sort of thing. He just keeps the mask on.

2) I don't think Spidey should ever be leading the next Avengers team. That'd be neat, but it's not really within his character or comic book history.

3) Spidey can still be a part of the MCU in a way that isn't just re-meeting Falcon or Doctor Strange. He can be college friends with Iceman or frenemies with the Human Torch. The MCU grows each year - plenty of room left to explore.

From Deadline:

Sony/Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home will click close to $704M by the end of the holiday weekend, which would make it the fourth-highest movie of all-time at the domestic box office, besting Black Panther's $700M. Sony reports a $5.1M Friday for the Jon Watts-directed title at 3,925 sites for a $20.8M 3-day, $26M 4-day.

I'm going to miss Spider-Man's Iron Spider suit, especially the Instant-Kill mode. That thing was bad ass.

I assume Kevin Feige will include MJ (and Ned) in the next movie considering how much the girl fans love Zendaya and Tom Holland together. They won't be together, but I'd be surprised if he's not hanging around (pun intended).

That was Cristo Fernandez (Dani Rojas In Ted Lasso) behind the bar serving drinks to Tom Hardy. Are we going to hear "Venom is life!" in a future MCU Spiderman movie?

After watching Dr. Strange and Spiderman screw up while simply trying to give Peter, MJ and Ned a chance of getting accepted to MIT, I'm now at the point where I agree with General Ross. I wish the writers wouldn't have the superheroes cause the problems (and the related death and destruction) that they have to save mankind from.

Hopefully that's Multiverse of Madness in a nutshell. I think that's what Mordo is all about as well - you shouldn't tamper with the natural law, the bill always comes due, etc.

I just wish they would address the fact that now both Wanda and Dr Strange have abused their powers by casting spells that have impacted others without their permission.

Wanda and Westview
Dr Strange and... literally everybody.

there should be some consequences for their actions.

Consequences are coming. We'll know more after the next round this year, starting with Multiverse of Madness.

My brother and I were talking about the changing face of the Box Office from our younger days until now, and we put this together. The Top 10 at the Box Office (all-time domestic) as of right now, 2012, 2002, and 1992. Some of these have shifted since their original release because of re-releases and special editions, but still interesting.

2022
1. The Force Awakens $936m
2. Avengers:Endgame $858m
3. Avatar: $760m
4. Spider-Man: No Way Home $705m
5. Black Panther: $700m
6. Infinity War: $678m
7. Titanic: $659m
8. Jurassic World: $652m
9. The Avengers: $623m
10. The Last Jedi: $620m

2012
1. Avatar:$760m
2. Titanic: $659m
3. The Avengers: $623m
4. The Dark Knight: $534m
5. The Phantom Menace: $474m
6. Star Wars: $460m
7. The Dark Knight Rises: $448m
8. Shrek 2: $441m
9. Pirates of the Caribbeanead Man's Chest: $423m
10. The Lion King: $422m

2002
1. Titanic: $659m
2. The Phantom Menace: $474m
3. Star Wars: $460m
4. ET: $435m
5. The Lion King: $422m
6. Spider-Man: $407m
7. Jurassic Park: $404m
8. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers: $342m
9. Forrest Gump: $330m
10. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: $301m

1992
1. Star Wars: $460m
2. ET: $435m
3. Return of the Jedi: $309m
4. The Empire Strikes Back: $292m
5. Home Alone: $285m
6. Jaws: $260m
7. Batman: $251m
8. Raiders of the Lost Ark: $248m
9. Ghostbusters: $243m
10.Beverly Hills Cop: $234m

Our most interesting observations is that Star Wars has had at least 2 movies in the top 10 all-time in every one of these, but it's involved 6 different films - the OT, TPM, TFA, and TLJ. And that would be true even going back to 1982.

In 1992, Lucas or Spielberg (or both) laid claim to 6 of the top 10, and that was the top 4 and 5 of the top 6.

The Spider-Man and Jurassic franchise each had a top 10 movie all-time in the 2002 edition and in the 2022 edition, but not the same films, and not even the same actors, except for Tobey and Dafoe in the No Way Home.

2002 is like the great mish-mash year - 2 Spielberg, 2 Lucas, 1 Cameron, 1 Disney, 1 LOTR, 1 superhero, 1 Harry Potter, and Forrest Gump as the random outlier.

Thought you dudes might be interested.

Will anything ever top TFA? If Endgame couldn't do it it's hard to believe anything can.

Now do total tickets sold.

Prices will always go up. The leaderboard is always going to have changes every ten years.

Total tickets sold is probably impossible to figure out, but it's likely Gone With the Wind by a large margin.

Gone With The Wind, Star Wars, and Titanic are the top 3, fairly sure.

Actually, Sound of Music and ET are 3-4. Titanic is 5.

(Adjusted for inflation, which is about the closest we can get to tickets sold.)

GWTW being #1 has always blown me away.

So many towns had so few theaters. The town I grew up in had two screens for a long time. Eventually got two more. And later four more.

I know there wasn't as much variety or competition for your movie nickel then, but there weren't many screens either.

I'm pretty sure I read once they kept releasing Gone with teh Wind over and over again, like over a 20-year span.

That may be the case. They did that with Star Wars as well, re-releasing in 79, 79, 81, and 82 before it went into a long theatrical hiatus until 97.

Back to GWTW, that movie was huge around the world. It came out in 37, so there were audiences everywhere that saw it multiple times. Recall a scene from Spielberg's Empire of the Sun, set a year or two after that, where young Batman is running through Shanghai and runs in front of a wall mural of the poster art for GWTW.

No Way Home made another $14 million this weekend even as the theater count dropped by about 200 and is up to $721 million. With nothing blockbuster-y, other than of course Moonfall, the greatest movie ever, and Tom Holland's project with the Funky Bunch next month, it feels like they're going to let it ride all the way until the Batman comes out in early March and see if it can catch Avatar for #3 domestic at $760 million.

Up to $735 million domestic after this past weekend, $25 million short of Avatar for 3rd all-time.

Also passed $1 billion internationally.

Sixth all-time worldwide at $1.738 billion. Won't get to 5th, which is Infinity War at $2.048 billion, but still what an accomplishment this thing has been.

Matrix Resurrections still holding steady for 35th in 2021 at $37.1 million.

$2.7 million yesterday for NWH. Up to $741 million domestic, has closed the gap on Avatar to less than $20 million for 3rd all-time.
