I am reminded of a story I heard of Elon and how he found out who was leaking info from one of his comapnies to the press. He had his folks code emails a certain way to individuals(spacing and fonts specific to individuals). Once that info was leaked, they would examine the document the media had and then could see who internally that document went to and then fired them. I wonder if this is a similar tactic.

Odd……….
The current and former Feds on this page are just shrugging their shoulders and saying "So? No big deal." The Fed bashers are making more of it than the actual Feds here. My agency kept daily "diaries" for decades before doing away with them about 1980, but their Facebook page is pandemonium about such a task. I'm known as a pyorrhea on there for pointing out the "victim hood" attitudes.
Why would you be known as an inflammatory gum disease?

Yeah, so DoD is not responding.

Like it or not, this is not how chain of command works. The president must direct the departments to do something, not OPM.

Sure, if the SECDEF wants to mandate it, hell if a front line supervisor mandates it, that's fine and people should comply.

Active duty military here, FWIW.

And he's pretty much the only one. This is a simple task:
  • Make points from your job description
  • Make other points based on your day to day activities (fill in blanks for various farmers or offices worked with)
  • Mix and match, just make sure key words are there dealing with your job
  • Cut/paste weekly
  • $Profit$

He's not the only one but yes, it's a very simple task.

I really hope they keep giving these people airtime. I don't know how anyone that has ever worked in the private sector can listen to this idiot and not have contempt and want her fired yesterday. Try pulling this attitude in the private sector and you are gone. They are asking you to simply say what you are doing. If that is too much of a burden then you don't need that job so good luck. It is public service which means YOU serve the public it is not a jobs program where you are entitled to get paid for working or not or deciding you get to do whatever you want. Even someone working at McDonalds can understand that.

The email is stupid.

I sent in 7 bullet points [or was it eight?]

Took me under 10 minutes, I didn't use a timer.

I work at the VA, my work schedule is M-F 0800-1630, and I don't take my work computer home on the weekend or at night, it is simply not required.

Anyway, I took the DRP, my last day is this Friday, and my retirement is effective 30 SEP 2025. Only worked for federal gov 6 years, and my pension would only be ~$350/mo except that I bought back my military time of just under 7 1/2 years to bring me up to ~$975mo.

That's all I got.

Federal LE is rife with oxygen thieves. I spent over a decade there in two different agencies and was assigned to two others on a task force. The stories I could share would be comical if they weren't so depressing. Federal LE is the opposite of a meritocracy and has been so at least since the early 2000s.
So true. And the proactive cops are disliked by the oxygen thieves or as I call them, the badged and credentialed welfare system. Usually disliked by their supervisors (not leaders) who don't want to rock the boat.

My old partner, who is at HSI, who works long term investigations and so may only get a few prosecutions a year, is considered less valuable than his coworker who stats of the local agencies, where she gives them minimal help but still gets the stat.

Too many similar stories.

I still think his management is better than mine. Definitely anti-meritocracy.

Unfortunately, these slackers will just write 5 BS bullet points, like their BS USAJobs resume.

Since they're trying to get rid of people who aren't working or checking emails, five points is really probably all that they need right now. They're going for the low hanging fruit.

DOGE field report - Talked to a guy that was a long time 1102.

Didn't really care about the email. Said he sent Elon 10 bullet points. Said he didn't bother to cc his boss.

Also said he took the DOGE buyout and he got a week left. Been working covid remote for years now, got use to it and didn't want to return to office because would cost him money and the retirement math work where he wouldn't gain anything by staying.

Guys only complaint was that he got the Elon email on Sunday which is trivial because welcome to America and welcome to life.

Heaven forbid you have to provide a weekly status report. Public employees never fail to impress.
I work for TAMUCC.

I'm a state government employee.

I do this every week.

It's not a difficult requirement.

You send a weekly status to HR?
To our admin which sends it to our VP.

Talked to another guy I know and apparently there was a debate within agencies as to whether to respond to the email because "the email came from OPM / DOGE and we don't work them."

I did mine. No issues:
  • Plans Synchronization Line of Effort 3 Warfighter Readiness and Deployability
  • Kwajalein Command Inspection
  • Installation Status Report Service 112 FY26 Change Management Program
  • Deputy Commanding General's G3/5/7 Update and Working Group
  • Daily Operations and Sustainment Briefing
When the truth comes out, do not ask me how I knew.
Ask yourself why you did not.

Let's see 5 things to respond to email about what you do.
I know It's hard for people that text and email all day long even when driving their car.

1. You don't/didn't do anything and can't justify your employment.
2. You get your depends in a wad with self righteous indignation and don't respond out of protest. Does the government really need you as an employee with that attitude?

Obviously A very easy way to identify and cull dead weight.

Good night. They are trying to dimmish the Federal Government head count. workforce, and if that's done by micromanagement tactics, so be it.

I have been working at TxDOT since January 2019, and we have to provide weekly reports of issues we are currently we working to our team leads. Then the team leads provide their weekly status reports to the manager and so forth.
