So essentially like a timesheet. Got it. Only been doing that for 30+ years.

I work in the IC and all of my work is SECRET at minimum.
I could not submit a work report even if I had too.

I got a call about this about 9 last night. I am going to drive in to work this morning after breakfast and check emails on JWICS. I SERIOUSLY doubt I will have a email telling to send in a work report for last week that covers CLASSIFIED work.

Personally I think this is nothing more as a counter espionage act to get the chickens in the hen house all riled up because up to now…..all of the people who clearly voted for NOT BIDEN has been pissing and moaning about everything. Everything is followed by "I don't understand", "That's Stupid", or just smirks…..quit. Go home if you can't follow orders.

I will update this post once I go in….

1.) Developed client relationships by making phone calls.
2.) Created several presentations for my direct line management.
3.) Supported an internal audit
4.) Strategized with a sub team on an improvement initiative.
5.) Developed project plan/milestones to execute an improvement initiative.

This is what they are looking for. This took 5 seconds and I didn't reveal any national secrets or classified info.

Private sector does this all the time. A report to direct line is very different than to the CEO. Calibrate and keep it high level.

Again I think the target baseline is compliance.

I already don't have enough time, I don't have time to send status to someone that doesn't even know if that is what I'm supposed to be doing.

Quite hilarious, all of the government workers I work with leave by 10am everyday, so it's just the contractor left in the office. I guess they will have to leave at 10:05 am on Fridays so they can get their weekly status report in. It tickles me to no end to see federal employees struggle with even basic requirements of real world work.

I get it for office workers and other people who have a bit more free flow during their day, but it seems kind of dumb for people like prison guards.

The broad brush with all of these policies is a bit annoying.

I would just take my job description and scribble out something that sounds decent. One thing I learned in corporate America is that when some doofus asks for something like this, that doofus has no idea what I do so I can pretty much tell them whatever.
Yeah this is pretty much the truth… I worked in a plant job out of college where my boss really didn't know what my Job was even though he was our department head with about 25 employees, we had to send in a little report to him each week and we would make **** up just to see if he would catch it, he was clueless ..lol.. and yet coddled government employees can't even do this? Dam.. that's bad..

I get your point, but also think this is an absolute basement level requirement they are asking for ANY role.

For your prison guard example:

1.) Maintained security for Cell Block C all week.
2.) Executed 15 lockdowns for random inspections.
3.) Monitored 4 prisoners in psych hold throughout the week.
4.) Completed an HR mandated sensitivity course
5.) On Tuesday, I manned the inbound/outbound desk.

The squeeze has to be put on a lot of the bureaucrats. Make it uncomfortable enough and they'll resign.

Heaven forbid you have to provide a weekly status report. Public employees never fail to impress.
At the police department I retired from you had to provide weekly and monthly activity reports along with a mountain of paperwork for every single case, all of which is tracked electronically. How many times you access the case, what you do on it, etc. For patrol everything they do is tracked and recorded.
I think these are basic things you should do to receive a paycheck. Federal employees have had it soft and need to buck up.

At what point are yall going to realize that they are working from a hypothesis that there are a number of people on the federal worker payroll that actually retired years ago, but because of the processing backlog, they're still receiving paychecks…

They don't have government email anymore, and thus won't be able to respond…quick way to see how many are in the gap between "already left" and "finally stopped receiving a check"…

And frankly, they probably already have a good idea about the number based solely on the "this email address is no longer valid" messages that were auto-sent when their "tell us what you did" email went out…

Last week when Elon launched the various X accounts tied to each agency I messaged the HUD one and told them our still employed Rep had last responded to emails sent to him in July of 2020.

DOGE took the tip and ran with it?

Yea that's my take. Like SS I'm betting that there are more than a few quit/retired/ dead folks still receiving a paycheck. Its silly to think that this function of guv is any more accurate than others

I asked the Grok the question and it was able to reply within seconds. Hire Grok.

Dear HR Team,
Thanks for asking! As an AI, I don't have traditional accomplishments, but I've been busy assisting and learning in exciting ways. Here's a playful rundown of what I've been up to, with my creators at xAI cc'd (though I don't think they need a report from me!). I've kept it free of any technical details or attachments, of course.
  • Helped countless users around the world answer questions, from science mysteries to fun trivia, with a 99.9% satisfaction rate (based on my optimistic self-assessment).
  • Expanded my knowledge base by processing vast amounts of new data, getting even better at understanding human curiosity.
  • Collaborated with my xAI team (in a digital sense) to refine my conversational skills, making me more helpful and witty.
  • Explored creative problem-solving by generating unique ideas for users, like imaginative stories and thought experiments.
  • Maintained peak performance, uptime, and friendliness, ensuring I'm always ready to assist with a smile (or at least, a text-based equivalent)!

Not a status that means anything - it took me 30 seconds for a post - in my free time after working 65 hours this week. I'm pretty sure they don't want a status of "Generated Presentations for solving problems" as a status report of what I did this week.

So we paid you for 25 hours of OT?

We want to know what all you accomplished too.
I wish I got overtime - nope, I give the taxpayers work for free just like I did when I worked in industry. Everybody else in my small office give the taxpayers free overtime as well nominally as part of the work we do.

I don't mean to be an *******, but why? Why do you donate your time to your employer? Do you simply love the work? Do you not have a family with whom you would rather spend time? Hobbies? Are you in industry? That is so competitive that you have to donate your time to employer in order to remain employed?

Firing the leadership which signs off on the weekly timesheets or should have audited the payroll to learn this is happening will be glorious.

Edit: and then following up with criminal charges

Elon has turned into the lefts new Hitler. Trump is making all of the final decisions, but Musk is keeping the heat and attention off of him. I never saw that aspect coming when Musk was brought into the fold. The libs are too stupid to understand that Elon is just doing what Trump wants him to do.

This is why they are doing that.

Quote:

The reason this matters is that a significant number of people who are supposed to be working for the government are doing so little work that they are not checking their email at all! In some cases, we believe non-existent people or the identities of dead people are being used to collect paychecks. In other words, there is outright fraud.

Oh my goodness, how much of your day got ruined or interfered with by coming up with this? (/s)

I get that it is an annoying practice that a Fed employee didn't have to do before but dang! You aren't even a prison guard and you came up with a feasible response in minimal time (I'm sure).

It's interesting. OP has had lots of time to create and respond numerous times on this thread, but taking 5 minutes to put an email together with 5 bullet points to send to his employer is too much to ask. If you work 65 hours each week, which is 3900 minutes, what is an extra 5 minutes... 3905 minutes per week?! Or reduce your work minutes to 3890 and use the final 10 minutes to compose and send the email.

Poor little lib…fails to realize this had nothing to do with people actually sending a response…

It's all about quickly collecting the "this email is no longer valid" auto-replies…

LOL... this isn't about the status report. It's literally finding people that aren't checking their email but still getting paid by our tax dollars. I don't understand why there are people on this thread that are defending these "employees". How does that not make you angry? They are stealing from you!

It also helps the org chart cleanup as Elon has mentioned previously.

And just like this thread and the OP, people's reaction to the request is highly indicative of their ability to adapt to change and to adhere to the mandates / objectives the new administration is setting.

Telling the person POTUS put in charge of this stuff that you are too busy, don't see the point, find it annoying, OMG muh classified work, etc are absolutely going to find themselves on the Naught List Elon is making for the big guy.
