I already don't have enough time, I don't have time to send status to someone that doesn't even know if that is what I'm supposed to be doing.

This is done in the private sector quite often when a business is bloated and inefficient. It's a way to find out who's adding value and who isn't. Typically doesn't last forever or even that long. Just long enough to figure out where cuts can be made. As others have said, most everyone, at some point in their career, has to do something similar. If you are productive and adding value, you probably have little to worry about. Just comply and weather the storm.

They have secure email channels.
We had a STU-III in our lab for calls...

I'm sure they can figure this out.

I work for TAMUCC.

I'm a state government employee.

I do this every week.

It's not a difficult requirement.

You send a weekly status to HR?
To our admins, who compile them and send them to HR and MARCOM.

This is not that difficult of a request.

Hardly a burden, when you consider CPAs and attorneys have to account for every bit of their time, every day in tenths of an hour or in quarter hour increments in order to provide detailed billing statements to their clients.

I bet they are only doing this to see what employees are actually still alive and will discontinue it in a few weeks.

Exactly the point of all of this. Federal employees have been coddled for years and are now upset that they have to actually go to work and to account for what they're doing. I've been doing both things for 30 years. It will be ok.

Every federal job has a detailed job description. If the reported work doesn't conform to the job description, that could spell trouble for the employee &/or the immediate supervisor of said employee.

We the people elected Trump! If what he does is constitutional, then we the people voted for it. You can always resign and go work in the private sector, where they don't require you to be responsible.
Ok...

I provide weekly reports to my boss with details that apply to them - my boss provides reports to their boss - how many of you provide weekly reports to your HR team - I never did that when I worked in industry but maybe things have changed now.

Doesn't matter. I do what the person in charge asks me to, or I find another job.

Yeah. It's not that difficult. I've worked on private sector for 25 years. There's been periods where I did weekly status updates. It's not a difficult thing to do takes 10 to 15 minutes.

Did your private sector company have 3 million employees? Not saying we NEED 3 million, but we need a lot more than most companies.

Who the hell is going to read all this *****

Define need? The next step.in this audit is to determine if what you are doing is worth the investment. I suspect we can cut alot of that 3 million.

Not a status that means anything - it took me 30 seconds for a post - in my free time after working 65 hours this week. I'm pretty sure they don't want a status of "Generated Presentations for solving problems" as a status report of what I did this week.

65 hours? That's it?

In all seriousness, I love NASA and have great respect for what you do. I would exempt NASA from the coming purge because I think they do a great service for all of mankind.

I would rather gut entitlements and increase your funding than pay for deadbeats. Unfortunately, I do not think I am in the majority of voters.

At least for good or bad, Elon will know whether your job is valuable or not. He won't for some random employees at the US Forest Service.

A weekly activity report is no big deal, nothing new.

Tying it to a threat of termination is both unnecessary and demoralizing.

This is simply the first step to Identify non-compliance and terminate for non-compliance. It is an easy and measurable task to justify a reduction in force.

This approach targets both (1) employees that aren't monitoring their emails and therefore aren't working and (2) employees that are intentionally non compliant.

It also has the benefit of getting compliant employees to justify their roles for further evaluation.

Hey at least they don't have to attend daily stand up meetings share what they did yesterday and what they're planning to do today and also track the hours they worked on the different projects and submit that every week.

Oh the horrors of actually sending a weekly status report!!

you have got to be kidding us.

you expect us to believe you are so busy that you can't type five bullet points??!

who in the private sector has not spent hours composing their status reports of their projects for the President of the Company?!

I would do that on a weekly basis!

No - Its that I already have to write up form my team as part of our reporting and coordination process and I'm not sending my inputs to that to OPM for some unknown (and potentially SpaceX related person to read). I now have to add another menial task that serves absolutely no purpose to help me or my team to get our work done where we are already understaffed for the scope of work we have. I'll do it, but we will also likely scrub our status with our management before sending it to who knows-
