DOJ sent the same "hold off" notice.

Unless you have a government issued phones, that is exactly right. We can't link our Fed email sent to personal cell phones. I hate the policy, but it is what it isLogos Stick said:TheNotoriousP.I.P. said:
Have a buddy who is on leave until the end of next week and doesn't have his computer or phone. I suppose y'all are cool with him being fired for not responding?
I bet he also works 65 hours per week too, right!
It keeps getting better. If you are in the private sector, you have access to email 24x7x365. In the Federal government, not so much.

When I worked for the VA I was able to link work email to my private phone, I was also able to use my personal computer to link to a VPN to work from home on my IMac. That was in 2018 or so and that change has remained the same since thenFireAg said:Ag_SGT said:If it was legal, I'd do the same but it is not right nowQuote:

Weird…I still know NASA folks…civil servants…their work emails come to their personal phones…
Guess they found a way around it…
They also have some encryption app downloaded on their phones that is required…
Exactly. The reason they are using these methods is because federal career employees have ridiculous job security. Make them all at will employees and then cut the government by 80%.Hubert J. Farnsworth said:
I like this. Make federal employees be productive or get rid of them. There has always been this mentality that government is inefficient and there is nothing we can do about it due to human nature and other reasons. I've always disagreed with that. Many conservatives have said that if the government was run like a successful business, it would be much more efficient. Just because our government has purposely been allowed to remain bloated, inefficient, and wasteful doesn't mean that it has to remain that way. The only ones crying about all of this are the people that realize the grift is up. Not a single one of these people are entitled to the American peoples tax dollars to fund their livelihoods.

Since, that is not currently feasible, we have these FF games being played by DOGE.
EXACTLY!!! Every time I get a difficult project or customer I understand that ultimately these customers, even the most difficult ones, pay my salary and help keep my business profitable.Ellis Wyatt said:
I have email on my phone. I'm a boss. Work doesn't stop when I'm not there. They will certainly minimize communication when I'm out, but I ultimately work for customers. No customers, no paycheck. That's the real world government employees don't seem to understand.
Ok, then work to allow federal employees to link their work related emails to their personal cell phonesProsperdick said:EXACTLY!!! What most federal employees fail to grasp is that WE THE PEOPLE are their customers and our taxes pay their salaries.

Heaven forbid you have to provide a weekly status report. Public employees never fail to impress.
Just add Daddy Elon to the recipient list of the weekly email to your boss.
What agency do you work for? What do you do at the agency?
Perfect! I bet Elon knows someone at SpaceX thatcan see if you are any good at your job.
My former coworkers at HSI told me they are exempt. How are you at catching tonks? All hands on deck.
In all seriousness, I love NASA and have great respect for what you do. I would exempt NASA from the coming purge because I think they do a great service for all of mankind.
I would rather gut entitlements and increase your funding than pay for deadbeats. Unfortunately, I do not think I am in the majority of voters.
At least for good or bad, Elon will know whether your job is valuable or not. He won't for some random employees at the US Forest Service.
I don't think its that different for other private industries that have export/ITAR related information in their e-mail. I couldn't take my company phone on personal international travel because it was considered an export of information. If you want to remove that excuse, then change the export rules to allow it. Its not really a private enterprise versus federal worker thing - its a ITAR/EAR thing.Ag_SGT said:Ok, then work to allow federal employees to link their work related emails to their personal cell phonesProsperdick said:EXACTLY!!! However, the passing grade is literally just “Can you send an email with words that make any sense at all?”.
It’s a low bar. https://t.co/D3AlfUfdeQ
Who said this will be weekly? It may just be a one time thing to see what comes back and who complies.AggiePops said:
When someone is evaluating the workforce to understand who is or isn't pulling their weight this doesn't seem out of line at all. My question though is that with over two million federal employees and only a handful of 'auditors', who is going to review all the weekly emails? And not just read them but know enough about the jobs in question along with the judgment to make decisions about what they're reading?
Yes, as some have mentioned, AI, but AI is still emerging technology and doesn't have human judgment ability.
