Can't take anything for granted, but the Dems are leaderless and have nothing to run on. They always act like they're about to cruise to victory, but what is their platform right now other than hating Trump?
Well with this freak Talarico it is outright slander of the greatest book ever written - The Bible, pushing transgenderism among the youth, pushing veganism, limiting 2A rights, and pushing legalization of abortion. Some real winning policies for Texas.
Yet a handful on here are worried that he's going to steal a Senate seat. Beto had his own issues, but he was a much more relatable candidate. Just because he calls himself a preacher doesn't mean that it is true. He's a false prophet that The BIble warns us about. Christians see right through it and I'm starting to see some actual Christian pastors with very large followings really starting to go in on his beliefs. Josh Howerton out of Dallas is a prime example of somone who is getting the message out to Christians about who Talarico really is.
I think once someone like Brandon Gil gets more experience under his belt (and hopefully continues down the same trajectory as he has been voting record wise) we could see someone like him get elected to the Senate and hold the seat for a very long time. I just pray that he doesn't start to get influenced by those with money that don't have the best intentions for our great state.

I think Paxton will win but I wouldn't get too cocky. The fact that this race is competitive doesn't bode well for the GOP's chances across the country. The GOP will have to spend here instead of in more important races that are historically competitive, like Maine.
I'll never understand why Cornyn is a RINO but I do think he would clean Talarico's clock, especially with independents.

This race is a microcosm race if Paxton wins in the primary.
A Republican with a lot of baggage vs a milquetoast Dem candidate that suburban white women might be willing to vote for.
It is NOT anything more than that.
I WILL agree that the Republicans will have to spend more if Paxton is the candidate than if Cornyn was the candidate, though.
Again: the fact that this is competitive does not bode well for the GOP bc they will have to spend more on this race.
I don't like Paxton at all. And I will sit out the general election rather than voting between the two.
Nevertheless, the GOP will need RINOs in Maine & Alaska to hold onto their majority. Spending more in deep red Texas makes that less likely. Seems like a silly risk to take.

Cornyn got smoked by 30 points. There is a reason that Paxton beat him that badly despite the baggage and all the attacks by the Cornyn campaign.
He needs to do some introspection. Cornyn is upset at the wrong person.
It's like when eyepatch got beat in his primary and went on the media circuit blaming Ted Cruz and Michael Berry.
