My guess is the butt and scope are under his shirt and the barrel is down the leg preventing him from bending his knee.

No gloves.

Is that the gun in his right pants leg?

They may not have one. That first picture seems like he's going out of his way to turn away from the camera. Catch-22. Photos that have his face are from far away (probably didn't see the camera). Close cameras, he turned away from.

More than likely, the clearest photo is going to be from one to two weeks ago when he was doing recon to find those same cameras and plot a route. A few crappy heist and Bourne movies will teach an idiot the basics.

Okay, but in the video of the limp, when it zooms in, he's bending his right knee…

He seems to be able to bend both knees though

It wouldn't be comfortable but if only the barrel is next to his knee he would be able to move the knee some but not a lot. Just an opinion.

Your opinion is as a good as mine…I truly have no idea…

I assume he would limp straight-legged if he had a steel gun barrel running down his pant leg…but that knee definitely bends…

Doesn't prove anything one way or another…just not what I would expect in my uneducated mind…

If they haven't contacted police within a few hours of photo release, I 100% agree.

Is it possible he had the barrel from his butt to the back of his knee and the rest of the gun runs up his back? He uses a backpack and a bulky-ish shirt to conceal the bulk of the gun?

Clearly speculation by all of us but if the stock or barrel is wedged under his arm, then the other end would probably only extend down to mid-calf or so. That would allow his knee some range of motion. But who knows.

Not even 36 hours after the shooting, be patient they will get the guy.

On the TMZ video of him going to the shooting, his right arm is tight to his body. If you were trying to hide a rifle, keeping the butt below your armpit, and the end of the rifle would end up just above the knee. Would explain that gait. And why on the second half of that same video, he's walking completely normal.

Anything is possible for sure…but man…the knee bend in this photo looks close to 40-50 degrees, no?
Fenrir

Yeah between this and the tmz video he doesn't have the gun hidden how I would have thought initially.

So now I'm wondering if it was already staged somewhere or has he rigged up the backpack somehow to carry the gun and it's tucked into his pants or something?

Agree that it doesn't look like it in these shots. Maybe he recognized it would be difficult to climb stairs and only had it like that walking to the building and figured out a different way to get it on the roof? But I admit that's getting more and more far fetched.

It wouldn't explain the "limp", but admittedly knowing nothing about this particular rifle, can it be easily broken down into sections and reassembled?

If so, I suppose it could be in pieces in the backpack…

Still leaves the "limp" video unexplained though…

I'll be honest, when I saw the "limp" video, I (wrongfully, I guess) assumed this was a post-shooting video and he was limping after jumping down from the building (I think somewhere it was said the drop would've been approximately 15')…

A screwdriver was found either on the roof or with the rifle. Was it used to disassemble the rifle or To mount the optics or was it simply a tool to jimmy any lock that secured the roof access?

That rifle doesn't break down. The barrel and action/bolt are not easily removed. They don't just screw together like you see on a James Bond movie. If you did take it apart like that and put the barrel and action back on the receiver plus put a scope on it cold on the roof you would have no clue where the round would go.

Even bringing the rifle with no scope in your pants and adding that later on the roof would not be something you could rely on at all.

A 200 yd neck shot with a 30-06 and decent scope and that rifle isn't a hard shot for anyone that hunts. I've killed my share of whitetail with neck shots at that distance with a browning .270. Doing it with a rifle you basically bed the action and add the scope on the spot? No chance. You wouldn't have a clue where the round is going.

I'll bet he put the rifle up there before. Maybe the night before. Or he had the whole thing stuffed in his pants and that why he couldn't walk. Loose shirt and loose pants and a rifle inside.

And now you're thinking along the same lines as me…are we dealing with more than one person here?

I don't see enough in the videos and photos to be sure either way…

Pretty obvious that is a cellphone in his right leg pocket. Assuming he didn't turn it off and keep it off the entire time, that phone should be "pinging" the entire time. Geolocate the current route they have tracked him to, with time stamps and start sorting through the noise. If he stays in 1 spot on the roof for 10-15 minutes, should be pretty easy to isolate that phone signal vs others as they wouldn't travel the same route they have him spotted along before/after.

Hopefully they are much more tech savvy than me, because I would have zero clue how to do anything I just described above.
