It's a microcosm of what's been going on nationally for too long and the result of a government that's far too bloated.
When the best and most common "get rich quick" schemes shift from entrepreneurship and private enterprise to getting into politics for bigger government or scheming government grants to support more big government, it's a symptom of socialism taking over capitalism or even crony capitalism. If you think Somali health care "companies" in MN is big, just wait. Let's look at Obama / Biden grants to green energy companies. Look at the USAID grants already discovered through doge.
You are correct and it is permeating all society. I think it is also an " if you can't beat them , then join them" mentality.

Taking as much from the system as possible is being encouraged at all levels. Social security is another prime example. All sides do it but one side seems all in as a matter of policy and political funding. One side embraces, communism and one of the primary objectives of communism is to collapse the capitalist system in order to Usher in communism. It is literally the stated objective. The other side does it to a much lesser degree purely out of greed and to maintain political power or avoid being labeled a racist.
Our culture has become rotten due to a Fed government that is too big to be held accountable or manage.
