Regarding the Draft, this was probably the most fun I've ever had it (which goes back to February when I started really digging into draft podcasts and watching a little film).

The talk leading up to the draft was so good because the possibilities were numerous with 2 picks on Thursday. 3 full months of anticipation/entertainment.

And, of course, the payoff was just about perfect. The Downs drop that we all knew was very unlikely, but very possible, happens. The trade back at 20 and still getting one of the top edge prospects. It was all just so good.

problem is... there's always some team dumb enough to go HAM on a player like that.

Also, an outside LB that can rush the passer and run down TEs and guys to the sideline is a somewhat premium position these days.

Just sucks that we'll be the ones holding a roster spot and paying him for like 500 plays and then (MAYBE) he stays healthy and goes a lights it up somewhere else.

Will be interesting to see how Osa does this year in SF.

DWare? Biadasz? Byron Jones? Cowboys have done pretty good in that regard vs. the rest of Dallas Sports teams.

The Mavericks literally had 2 of the top 8 point guards in basketball, drafted, and let them both go for peanuts and a unibrow rental.

The only recent player that immediately comes to mind is Jordan Lewis. Could have and should have paid him.

There's certainly been other guys that we wanted to keep, we just weren't going to pay what they got on the open market. Pollard & Dorance Armstrong as examples.

If that's true then you refuse to deal with any of his clients.

And I'm sure other teams would take note. The agents need to maintain good relationships with teams or they lose business.

Today's agents are a plague and/or blight on sports. These leagues and their players associations need to do a lot more in terms of helping their men understand the business side and how to best advocate for themselves. Today's agents have ENTIRELY too much control and are only out for their own best interests, not their clients. And I am not saying there aren't good agents or that they are useless, they aren't. I am simply saying that these men need to be much more in control of their own financial and business well-being than they are currently.

My understanding of the Pickens deal is that there really isn't anything new to report. Sounds like a journalist was just talking and giving their opinion and somebody ran with it like it was breaking news. It wasn't.

All the Cowboy people still feel like it's understood that the league is looking at and expecting George to act like a model citizen. Play on the tag, don't be late to meetings, etc.... if he can do all of those things then somebody will probably want to give him some real money next year.

He would have to be an idiot to not play ball. Potentially throwing away $80m in a long term deal. This agent as well - he'd be sacrificing his own future compensation

Thuguletas clients have a history of inventing reasons not to play to force managements hand. Expecting same from a flake like Pickens. Hope I'm wrong
