Also, we tried trading up with Cleveland12 and 20 and a 5th for 9 and 24.

One of the conversations around the draft/offseason has been 'are we putting too much hope into what Christian Parker is going to bring to this defense'?

I think the answer is Yes, Definitely, but I think it's warranted. I think the Delta between how good CP can be and how bad Fluss was is going to be massive. There had to be some major burnout or some other life crisis after being fired from Chicago... there is no logical explanation for what Fluss was doing last year.


I expect our defense to take a big jump this year. You can almost consider Q & Clark to be part of our free agent signings because this will be their 1st offseason with the team. Being post camp / mid season additions to our roster last year with an absentee D-Coordinator was a throw away season for them.

I'm such a believer in good linebacker being key to a great defense.

Remember the difference in Dallas' defense with and without Sean Lee?

Is there a terrible defense in the NFL today that also has a great MLB? I can't think of one off the top of my head.

Agreed. But I also can't think of a great RB that plays on a terrible offense. They sorta go hand in hand. The Oline being the key.

We definitely have some talent gaps on D and multiple "I hope he can stay healthy" guys. But our D line should be very good. CP can build from that.

I think there is still a very strong possibility that Miami trades Jordyn Brooks after June 1st and I expect Dallas to be in the mix. Miami's cap is a mess and Brooks would be a huge offload (8.3m).

100%... and it's going to be Love this year. No idea why teams take a RB when their QB / O-line situation isn't good.

I understand roster building and taking BPA, but most RBs have maybe 6 or 7 good years. Doesn't feel very efficient to waste some of them while you assemble competent people around them.

I've been wondering about that and they 100% should do this if he's available. It's still been years since we've invested a 1st/2nd round pick at LB and it shows.

I'm much happier with the LB room now than I was this time last year, but we could use another guy, especially if the guy can really play.

Yeah, it's already started for sure. Our 4th round CB Moore said Caleb was helping him understand CPs defense. He was like, "Dude, how? How do you know all this stuff already". Apparently he started studying different NFL defenses before the draft and Philly was one of them... that's insane!


I still don't know why the Giants didn't take him at 5. They took Reese, who is a bit of a tweener, and whose best spot might be where they arleady have equally talented dudes. Big miss by the G-Men IMO.

I'm all for it, let him compete. I believe there is still some hope that Caelen Carson can play... he showed promise as a rookie but I think some injury stuff happened and sounds like he lost his mojo.

But I'll repeat myself again, it felt like every player on our defense lost their mojo playing for Fluss. CP doesn't have to be great his first year... but if he's just "good" it will be such a huge step up. I think we will see multiple players rise up and be better pros this year.

There is a lot of chatter surrounding UDFA Michael Trigg. He sounds like the perfect post draft pick up... tons of talent and some skills that we currently don't have in the TE room.

Maturity issues could derail his career before it even begins, but if Dak and Co. can show this guy how to be a pro, he could be our TE#1 in 1-2 years.

I mean, I'm pretty sure I've heard the other coaches refer to him as CP when talking to the press. Same way you'd hear them sometimes say DQ when referring to Quinn.

Maybe I'm wrong... somebody else chime in... is calling him CP an insult to the next great Dallas DC?

I remember Schotty calling him CP during the introductory press conference and heard him referenced as CP during various podcasts. I'll call him whatever he wants to be called if he can help this team get to and compete in the playoffs.

Pundits always make a big deal about this every time it's any position other than QB, center and middle linebacker. And I can't help but chuckle at the obvious implication they're all making but seemingly too dense to pick up on. Emmanuel Acho does it regularly and it's pretty wild to watch.

Sounds like people online are turning on Colbie Durant because he's wearing #2 and people want Downs to wear his college number.

What's interesting is that Durant has always worn #14 in LA and in College... that number is currently occupied by Marquese Bell. Didn't Bell get busted or drugs recently? Maybe everything will just all sorta work itself out.
