Why? Not arguing as I've never been - and have friends that say the same. Just genuinely curious why you think that.

I was just responding to the guy that asked if it was a good hill. I agree w alot of the write up describing each hill out here.

Overall I like Snowmass for a couple of reasons: It's usually empty. On a powder day you can run all day on fresh tracks. Lift line w more than 10 people almost never exist.

Manuverability across the mountain. It's one of the easiest mountains to get from A-Z on fun blues/greens. Not many diagonales of death or cat walks you can't avoid.

They have some amazing blues: sneakys. Big Burn rollers and elk camp top to bottom. WIDE blues and WIDE trees
Great grade and SUPER well maintained. They Have Some AMAZING blacks (hanging Valley) and They Have Some of the most fun greens in CO.

It's also Very hard to lose people because of the layout: kids included and has a ton of spots people can dip out for a run or two to warm up wo having to go to the base.

Venga Venga churros and ice cream and Easy free parking. They also Don't Have mountain safety. Instead They Have a larger ski Patrol. So less malls cops and more trained professional medics If **** goes side ways.

It also has no in bounds Ropes. If you see it you can ski it if you're good enough.

The 4 aspen Hills would probs rate out like this:

Aspen/Buttermilk - Beginner
Snowmass - Intermediate
Highlands - Expert

If It's One of the SAT questions It'd be:

Snowmass : Intermediate
Jackson Hole/Taos: Advanced/Expert

This is why we do snow mass. Such an easy place to get around skiing or just hanging out. Awesome food/bars, great place for the kid with the arcade, etc.
Runs never seem to be too busy, lines aren't bad and everything is within 10 min of your day staying there..

Hope to do that today/tomorrow. Have a private guide/lesson today, so we will see where they take us.

Make sure to get up to the Gornergrat (spelling).

You get there from that crazy gondola house that has multiple mid-loading spots. It's the area that's up east of town. Where the train also goes up.

The views of the Matterhorn from there are insane.

Headed to loveland ski area Saturday to Tuesday. They have been getting small amounts of snow this week. Hopefully they get a little more before we arrive.

We ski there every year for the last 10-12 years.

Winds too strong today and snow tomorrow, so no Italy until our last day Thursday.

agree the views were amazing there. We went up yesterday under clear skies and it was awesome.

Booked tickets for Banff for spring break. Was thinking of trying somewhere else this year (Schweitzer or Big Sky) but decided to chase the snowpack..

Christie, Canyon or Compass in PC.

If You Go to Christie Sports lmk and I can get you a discount.

Only places that can stress test the binding will be able to do the mount. Thats a HUGE liability process so go somewhere like the above that do this day in and day out . Overall it takes about 15 minutes to actually mount the bindings. It's much faster than fitting boots etc.

Christies is one of the few rental companies that also do mounts because the equipment to test the bindings is a couple 100k easy.

Just dropped off wife's new skis and bindings at Christie's to get mounted. They said they would be able to get it done in a few hours which was a nice surprise

Any weather man worth their salt would tell you forecasts out more than 5 days and especially 7 are not very reliable.

Skied vail yesterday and Monday. Was definitely thin in spots but overall not bad all things considered. Was my first trip up to the mountains this year and I'm sure the storm this past weekend really helped out significantly. Sucks the back bowls were closed but still had plenty of fun on the front side. Couple of the lifts kept breaking down and that coupled with the lack of terrain made the mountain feel a lot more crowded than it actually was. Still wasn't too bad in the singles line.

On another note, anyone have a recommendation on backpacks or anything to carry toddler skis? Planning on getting my twin 4 year old boys started in a couple weeks at keystone and know it's gonna be a pain in the ass hauling their **** and mine.

Starting to see reports suggesting the long term forecast is starting to turn to a colder more active climate over the Rockies. Really hope this materializes

Had a fantastic time at Tahoe and Diamond Peak on Wednesday. Weather was warm, but we got about an inch of fresh on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, so we had decent conditions.
Diamond Peak is a pretty sweet hill though. It's small (skied the whole thing in like 4 hours of moderate riding), but the views are pretty tough to beat. I wouldn't make a ski trip out of it, but if you're going to Palisades, maybe throw in an easy day at Diamond Peak to break it up?

In general, what kind of conditions would we expect during spring break time for Wolf Creek/Purgatory?
Bayou City
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Purgatory has no snow right now. WC has more but still crazy low. Honestly, gonna probs be alot of rocks and dirty spots.

I skied Both with less base back in December and they were fine unless you love tree skiing or double blacks. Purg in particular had worked hard to spread and groom the snow they did have to ensure the majority of runs had good coverage and were skiable. I was actually surprised at both at how few rocks and crud and few bare spots there were on open runs. Yes, they were worse than usual but they kept the bad stuff roped off mostly so what was open was ok.

I'll be in Purg the last week of Feb and I'm not worried it won't Bo at least ok.
Bayou City

They stopped making snow and hes talkin Spring break. 2 week forecast is 8 inches total. Its gonna be 40+ for 1/3 of those days. In early feb. Thats crazy. Those are base melting Numbers 1/2 way through Feb. that gives 2/3 Weeks before average highes in the mid to high 30s/40s. Those could he in the 50s this season. I love the optimism but Spring Skiing is gonna be painful. We need An el niño Spring. This season has taken 20 yeard Off my Life already. Ive chalked this season up as Over. Que pedo.

Yeah, I'm being willfully positive. It's all I have until another major front comes through. I'm going skiing even if I have to do it on gravel.

Never mind, Zendo is a 4 seater. No idea which one I'm thinking of, but I distinctly remember having to jump off a lift a little after missing a really short unloading platform at what I thought was Peak 6 area of Breckenridge.

Was actually pretty fun and worked out okay.

Ski tuners, how deep of a ding/scratch should I bother with Ptex? I have a couple of small base gouges from rocks I had to pick a grain of rock out. Maybe 1mm to 1.5mm deep at most, but bases aren't that thick. Drip a couple of drops of ptex on it and scrape it just in case? I the scratches are only like 1cm long.
Bayou City
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Picture please

Doesn't sound ptex worthy. PTEX needs more thank just a scratch to set.

Are You worried about a base grind because You may go basement and can't Go Back? I'd just leave them so that the next time you trash them you're already like well they had ****s already.
MouthBQ98
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Not sure they're worth worrying about at all but I'm a gear maintenance nut. Looks like I need to do a quick once over with a stone to get some rust veneer spots off in some spots too.
