Any of you industry folks know anything about these guys: https://www.snevamfg.com/skis?

They are a small ski maker based in Spokane. Dad friend of mine from youth ski racing is driving sprint cars for the owner and I met him at a Super Bowl party last weekend. We were discussing going to the shop and making our own skis when they aren't busy.

I've known about them but I don't have any idea on their reputation.

I'm close to Taos. 7,000' elevation and it's a spring rain storm. Anything Taos Ski Valley is getting is super wet and heavy. Not fun skiing and will be slush.

5" of fresh at Schweitzer last night. 3-4" more expected through the day.

Anything frozen will help build base and gives future snow more of a chance to last if it cools just a few degrees.

On the snow showing much of Colorado getting 12-24" on the next 10 days or so

Couple inches at WP overnight. Still snowing, but lightly.

Needs to keep going. We're there in 2 weeks.

Forecast mountain temps in Colorado next weekend are nuts. Lows in the negative 20's?

Where are you seeing that? I'm not seeing anything close to that.

They fixed the glitch. It'll get cold but not ridiculous cold. On the plus side, right now it looks like 24-27 will be another dump on the SW.

Yeah I think that happened a few weeks ago with OTS as well. I just use weather underground and it's been very accurate.

Ordering my kids new ski helmets this week I've just concluded the helmet I've been using is a women's model. What's the right play here. Also, don't let this get around.

My ski's are technically "women's" but spec wise exactly the same as the "men's" version. Basically just a different colorway. How dumb is that?

Matching Boot warmers and glove warmers! Jaja

Reminds me of my first season at the shop. I had a CDMX guest that HATED all of the mens sport machine and Dalbellos boots. All he wanted were the womens sport machines and the womens Mavens. So, since My motto is "give the people what they want", I set him up on the set and he was SO happy. Didn't tell him they were a womens set.

He pays, he gets his gear, and he starts walking up the outside stairs to the gondola (You guys that have been to that shop know what i'm talking about). As he starts walking up the stairs, by drunk bff los jovencito is walking down and hits him w a "nice womens boots and skis". OH LORD You shouldve seen the look on this machismo mexican mans face. It was worth it but damn was his head about to explode.

Some people don't mind, other people give you the look of a dead man.

It's been a crazy year. I think I've had our driveway cleared maybe 2 or 3 times at most this year. Looked at my ring camera yesterday and almost no snow in my backyard. That should be several feet deep.

I get to steamboat in 19 days. Would be nice if pony express and mahogany ridge side of the mountain would finally open up by then.

Definitely my favorite area of the mountain besides maybe North St Pats and No Names area. I wonder if they would have enough staff at this point to get those going if we do get the snow.

don't you have to hike up from storm peak or morningside to those? or do you cut over to them on the way down the chutes? ...no thanks for me. I'm vehemently against hiking uphill on skis and those are probably a little too experty for me.

my favorite is the morningside bowl. I like to drop down biscuits, gravy, cheesy gritz, huevos, or alarm clock area, but I'm going during nearly all of Texas and half of the USA's spring break, and there's only one lift line at the bottom of morning side- hate it down there when it's crowded. Really hope the Middle Rib area off Pony is open in March as it's always far less crowded over there. ...and the new Mahogany lift was brand new last season, but not yet open when I went for Christmas, so I'll be excited to try Edge of the World, Thick of It, etc., but the far side over there is probably not safe for me, especially when the bottom of all those double black areas is labeled "Hike Out". lol.

Quick question, anyone been to big sky lately. I used to ski there quite a bit over a decade ago (before they bought out moonlight basin) and it never seemed to be crowded, even on holiday weekends. I'm wondering if that's still the case or if it's gotten as bad as all the other resorts.

You have to hike up from the top of Morningside lift. They are double black but I don't think they are as hard as the new stuff on Mahogany ridge. I have not done many of those double blacks over there yet. There is so little traffic over there if you got hurt it could really put you in a bind. I certainly would not venture in there alone. From the area by North St Pats the run East Face is actually very easy if you are willing to do the hike once. There really are some beautiful views from that side.

They're navy blue mostly with light blue lettering and green trim

Hardly women's colors

Awesome change in forecast. I'll keep up with my wishful thinking, maybe it is working!

Yeah, I'd have zero problem using women's gear if it was functionally better for what I am doing, and cheaper to boot. I'm only 5'9" 160 with a 255mondo so I'm in the size range for the gear targeting them. These days they tend to more just make the same gear in a large size range and maybe they bother to change color on the top and give it a different label.

I leave Friday night for Durango. If things hold I'll catch the back end of one dump and another mid week.

When I bought new skis before last season, the Faction Prodigy 3x (women) was $75 cheaper than the 3x (men).

I'm a cheap ******* and do not care that the my skis have pink/purple fade on the bases. My daughters think they are awesome.

I've been to Big Sky on a spring break week and MLK weekend in the last couple of years. It wasn't zero lift lines but I didn't think it was overly crowded either. Probably never waited longer than 10min to get on a lift.

I'm a millennial that still wears skinny girl jeans.

I'll bow out of this discussion.

Hood this weekend with my daughter while the wife toils away at work. Such a pleasant weekend.

Though, she is a chitty chatter, and did slam the bar down onto my leg. And very, very vocally proclaim; "Almost got your vagina." Because the wife is all about the proper terms for everything. Then we dove deep on anatomy for boys and girls. Sorry stranger on the lift. It wasn't new, she just needed a refresher.
