My advice? Buy last minute lessons and enjoy skiing. I love my kids and I love that they can ski now so kudos for going through the suck right now but when I'm teaching them, no one is having fun. You just have to write it off as a trip to tend to your kids on a cold slippery mountain.

Next not this but the next 2 weeks look great for Park City/Utah.

For CO it Looks like something may be forming the Middle of the second/third week of Jan. Potential for 10-12+ in Southern/Northern/Sawatch. 70 corridor still has the mocus of them w 4-8 expected.

Yikes. Leave 17th for the boat for a full week. Can move trip as we have a free place to stay in Clark- will keep watching. Keep the reports coming!

Park city just opens up a ton of black and double black diamond. At least compared to where they were. They were at 18 runs three days ago and now they have 45 open. Better than nothing.

Anyone interested in a size large Stio Figment jacket in whitebark camo? I've dropped some weight since I bought it in February and it's too big on me.

I'd sell it for $375 shipped. Retail is $530.

Bayou or anyone else... Experience with equipment for sale on Out and Back? Buying my wife some new skis and she doesn't even want them or even care what she's on, but they're driving me crazy looking at them, the rusted edges, etc. I'm not going to spend exorbitant amounts on something she wont even care about.

She's my height so anything in the 160-166 length and 82 width is what I'm hunting.

Gotta be careful buying a used ski you can't see in person. Sideline Swap or Poshmark might also be worth checking out.

I'd recommend finding a high volume seller that is dealing with a lot of used skis. They're probably going to be more likely to not sell something that isn't safe, and/or accept a return.

Shasta and Ashland had to close today due to the rain in this warm storm we are getting with the already low snow. We need a miracle storm bad.

Soooo glad I didn't get a season pass. No end in sight at this point.

Yeah. Probably a good call. Shasta does have that days open guarantee at least.
We went last Sunday and it was as crowded as I've ever seen it.

This next storm might be enough for them to open for a couple days until it melts off again.

Skied Hood the past few days.

Low tide everywhere. I have some P-Tex work before skiing again tomorrow.

I did get to skin Palmer NYE while the girls hung in the Lodge. Solid coverage and snow >8,000'. Nice sunset and some dicey headlamp skiing:

We rented a minivan but friends have used the link below with success. Airport to the village is about 35-40 minutes depending on traffic. Uber black is also an option if you don't want to rent a car.

not much of a guarantee...

"Pass Protection Program
We guarantee a 60-day ski season. For each day short of 60 days, we will offer 1.67% per day rollover credit to be used in the following ski season.
This will protect you if we are not able to maintain 60 operational days for our 24/25 season".

That may be better than the industry, but I don't even know if I'll be in the area next year.

They only charge $50 for a day pass for veterans, a great perk. But it also makes my break even point is 8+ days if I get a pass when they're the cheapest. No veterans discount on a season pass.

Bunny Flats is looking pretty good though. But I'm a late season (low avalanche probability) back-country skier. Not enough experience yet.

Can they work out their thing with ski patrol soon so everybody they sent to CB goes back to Telly?

Uber

Expanding a bit, the three times I've gone to park city I've gone

Car service up (wife and I)
Van service back down (bunch of couples)

Car service up and down (wife and two 2 y/os)

Uber up and down (2 dudes up, 3 dudes down)

Car service was probably $125 plus tip (and a decade ago). Uber last Feb was $97 with tip

Honestly I don't know other than looking at the cameras. We're scheduled to go in early Feb, so I'm just hoping that gets resolved in the next few weeks so everyone's plans can get shifted back South.

I've used Uber when it was just my wife and I. Used a car service when we went with my parents and our kids.

If you're looking for a car service let me know how many people in your party and your destination, I'd be happy to send some options.

Yeah, that veterans deal is good. With them switching to RFID passes finally so you can just load it online, if you're going less than 8 days/yr, no real reason to get the season pass.

The guarantee is definitely better than most. I'm actually not aware of other mountains offering something like that? Mt. Ashland could not afford to do something like that though.

Telly Will open at that point but it will likely just be lifts 1 and 4. Even if they reopen, I expect a large amount of the Reservations will still bail.

SS and Park City setting up well over the next 14. I-70 not so much.

Vail offers a solid veterans and and insane active service member and dependents pass discount. It's like crazy cheap for active service & dependents.

It's like $600 for veteran and $200 for active/retired.
Teslag

Ya it's $190 for active (including guard/reserve). Applies to dependents as well. I got 4 passes (me, wife, 2 kids) for $760 total. Also includes the same 20% off lessons, food, etc the regular pass has.

Snow isn't terrible. Crowds are ok. We've skied the 6 open blues today. All pretty good. About as best you could hope for with the absolute terrible snow year.

Picture below is the worst of it. Lots of beginners trying to ski an unhooked blue. People eating it left and right.
