We have WinterPark for our only trip this year planned end of February. Quick 3 day trip just to get the 6yr old on the slopes and keep making progress.

She got all the way down the mountain multiple times last year and need to keep building her confidence.

I bought Flex lift tickets and did not protect them (I've never had to cancel a ski trip due to snow) so I'm out ~$500 already. Lodging, rentals, car, flights, 1-day ski lesson can all be cancelled for full refund. Wondering if I just bite the bullet and pull the plug.

Will likely give it another 3 weeks or so and see how it goes. We have 30 days on those bigger items.

I'm going to trust to some regression to the mean and that the odds are by true mid season there's something, even if it isn't spectacular.

I wouldn't worry about it one bit if you are going in February. You will be fine.

Your kid will have a great time slaying manmade groomers, riding the lift with Dad, swimming in the hotel pool, watching the Dumont rams, etc. Take him skiing.

Steamboat right now. Skiing certainly is not great but it can change with just one big storm.

February is a lifetime away. I wouldn't worry at all about February. I'm not even worried about mid late January. Hell we're going to park city in two weeks and not worried about skiing. There will at least be man made stuff.

We are having a great time on bad snow and limited runs. Beats the snow in Texas always.

Most snow making Operations Don't run full blast past New Years. Typically, snow making is early season until the natural snowfall fills in. They have senior water rights but that doesn't mean they Have the ability to make snow at their whim.

Without natural snowfall, they will maintain a set of runs but as the season progreses, those runs will become WRODs.

We get it. It's pretty bad. But for us groomers with kids. We don't care about chair lines. We'll ski what we can get. POW can wait. Pics are Canyons. Not the best but we still gonna ski.

I made 2 runs down the ribbon of death Sunday with the oldest and then had to call it. Too many idiots going way too fast. My daughter nearly got run over by a snowboarder. They opened a few more runs today, hoping we'll get more snow but the forecast isn't looking great.

Oldest is supposed to be starting alpine race camp Saturday, but that's likely not going to happen, and all of her races are TBD I would imagine.

Lift 3 at Purg last week, they were reporting 12" base so nobody was back there but a handful of die hards and it really wasn't bad at all. By now though, it probably ain't so great.

Truth, I put a lot of effort into staying immediately uphill of my little girl at purg Sunday (and preparing to lay down an ass whipping if someone hit her)

Telly strike incoming.

Tellski came back after a week w the same offer. NLRB will get notice of failure to negociate in good faith.

Ski Patrol lowered their ask and was shown the door.

$300 a day ticket cost, poor snow, and the holidays upon us and they're going to go with a work stoppage?

Ya this is trash. We canceled for Feb 8 to 12 and going to Switzerland/Austria instead. Can't trust it at this point.

Whistler or Revy are much closer. Both have +80" bases with plenty more forecasted.

Volcanoes opened today. Baker is healthy (95% open). Crystal, Bach, Meadows and T-Line limited. But there's enough through the new year to probably fully open by pushing snow around.

Split boarders are a goofy bunch.

You're so close to the good side. Just give in. Transitions are faster!

I picked up a set of the Mountain Hardware Firefall insulated bibs and jacket few months ago for colder weather. Haven't skied in them yet, but they are comfy. My warm weather gear is either Stio Figment jacket with Credential pants, or some Ortovox soft shells pants. Quality outerwear makes skiing a lot more enjoyable.

Ha no kidding

Damn guess they didn't re up the green color way. All neutral/warm colors on this years line

Why does she wear BOAs? I know you've said they're all hype here before so just curious

Yup. Ski Patrol at Telly makes less than a liftie at Aspen or Vail. It's really sad how poorly Chuck treats his employees.

The ski industry would be far better off if that hot bag of dog **** would sell it to someone that thinks of something other than $$$. He's honestly one of the most miserable and awful people ive ever met.
Bayou City

She gets them free and they pay her to wear them. Don't ask me how many times we have to stop to adjust them…. She loves them and she hates them at the same time but when you get them free and get paid to wear them, I guess it makes it ok.

I'd never wear them, and she won't wear them for competition. They're her "chasing Panda and kids around the mountain" boots because she thinks they're the most comfortable.

Deer Valley WC ariels cancelled and moved to Ski East. Guess that means I'll be staying home w the gremlins. There goes one of our watch mom ski fam trips. Deer Valley to Lake Placid. BARF.

BOA is the ***** It's the future. Infinite adjustment with no leverage to tighten. Just twist. No more guessing which rung of the clasp is tight.

I've broken plenty in bike shoes and it's not hard to repair.

The only MUST change is a steel cinch band for the backcountry. If you bust a BOA out there, it's the only way to keep things tight. I keep one anyways in case I break a binding.

I have one pair of BOA bike shoes, won't be buying another. Same complaints. Where will it be tight? They're a good Fruita wear them all day shoe but suck elsewhere. Try explaining that to your wife. This is why I need to bring two pairs of bike shoes.
Other than helmets I can't think of a good use for BOA in actual real world use.

Speaking of Fruita…62 and mostly cloudy in Christmas Eve.

Copper Mtn. reporting an 18 inch base, 1 black run open, 11 and 15 greens and blues. Was offered a free place to stay mountainside in March so we are going, surely snow will improve by then? Maybe crowds will be better in March w this reduced snow? Anybody have any input?
