Just my gut. She never struck me as sympathetic, just someone trying to game the system. And based on her text messages/social media posts I dont see her ever thinking she was wrong.
I think it's pretty easy for a non-lunatic to put on a good face, behave well, and seem sympathetic (especially while not in gen pop) if the end result is shaving a prison sentence in half.

If you want to subject some prison guards to constant acts of attempted and possibly successful violence, then put her in gen pop.

She is murderer. She should get thr same treatment/protections as any other murderer.
Keeping her in protective custody does more to make the lives of the guards easier and safer.

Dont want the guards getting hurt but then I dont think she is entitled to extra protection. If that means solitary confinement, then that is a choice she can make.

I'd bet against her being alive after 1 year of gen pop and I think that is the issue.

Oh man, that impact statement from his brother forgiving her and saying that he wishes she wasn't going to jail and then the hug between him and Guyger after the judge took what seemed like forever to give him permission.

Amazing.

If that is true, we are in some serious need of prison reform
Ignoring that completely, we are in serious need of prison reform.

We need rehabilitation, better access to acquire skills that will help prisoners become productive members of society rather than fall back into their old traps because they cannot get jobs and can't move on with their life.

I am white and think the sentence was too light. He will never have children or grandchildren. I think she should be locked up for enough years to make sure she also is robbed of the joys she took from him.

But I am not on the jury and have to accept that they looked at all the evidence and thought this was the best punishment.

She just is not a very nice person and I would be really surprised if prison improves that.
