My feed dropped and I had to refresh my page when I was a few minutes behind on coverage. What happened that caused her to start crying for those watching? Just reliving the incident?
not sure, there was a sidebar conversation and then she was in tears
TOUCHDOWN!
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Lawyer asked her if the door opened that day the same way it had opened previously. She said no and started getting emotional. The lawyer asked her to step down and show how she carried her gear, then she was unable to answer questions clearly due to the crying/nervousness.

Sidebar to discuss whether she could testify about what happens to a person's body when suddenly faced with an unknown. I'm guessing judge disallowed that testimony because they came back and had her start with what happened when she opened the door. She was starting to cry when they came back from sidebar and went full Chernobyl, ugly blubbering cry and couldn't talk. Judge immediately has jury leave room and called 10 minute recess.

People worry about riots because of the Dallas 5 killings, and the inflammatory posts on social media about this case. Much like Bocephus has said, there is a small segment of Dallas that hates DPD and will look for a reason to riot.

I have read several mildly inflammatory posts on social media from African Americans that I have known since they were children. At the beginning of this trial, they saw Botham as one of their own, and were highly angry about the possibility of Amber walking. They have been silent since David Armstong was on the stand, I am hoping his statements will help calm everyone down.

Lawyer referred to it as "her apartment". Selling the mistake left and right.

It is going to be hard for the State to overcome that 911 call and call it murder. She sounds like she is a genuinely remorseful person who made a really bad mistake.

I agree. I hadn't heard it before and it actually made me feel sympathetic towards her.

What was that objection about? I didn't catch what he was saying.

Prosecution will spin the parts where she talks about her life being over as "see, more focusing on herself."

Here come the water works again. If she's acting, she deserves an Academy Award.

ADA is objecting to her crying and is coming across as an ass.

I just don't understand that mindset. I'm not saying your feelings are invalid, just that I can't find myself in the same place.

She murdered an innocent man in his own home. I get that based on her defense she has a high chance of walking away. But it seems like a flawed system that allows a murderer to walk free because, "oops I made a mistake".

"I wish he was the one with the gun and had killed me."

Seriously - as I've said - I want her to do hard time, and I'm moved by her testimony.

Nonresponsive is a broad objection, meaning they aren't answering the question, they are straying from the answer to the question, or in this case, their answers cannot be clearly heard.

Intellectually I do believe that she was wrong and that the mistake is unforgivable she should be punished, but I can't help but feel bad for her when I hear how scared and upset she was.

Agree that the ADA is coming across like an ass. Every time she starts crying, he objects. Not a great look

I think she is coming across great as a witness. I would expect the jury to be feeling sympathetic and empathetic from her testimony.

Prosecutor coming across as a bigger ass on cross examination. I was wondering if he would be aggressive and attack her. Looks like that is the approach he is taking.

Not sure how it will come off to the jury. But when he's attacking her and she basically agrees with him (on a minor point), I don't think it looks great.

But maybe the jury will think otherwise.

He knows that he needs to get her to screw up. The only way he thinks to do that is be aggressive. Its an all or nothing approach

ADA first going after police coming out to comfort her afterwards. Her comment "I didn't ask them to come" - ADA responds "I don't care about that" - comes across as harsh. "Shouldn't you be in the car?"

Making a point of questioning her why she wasn't crying during video of the night of the incident. I guess he's trying to make a point that her remorse shown at trial is contrived.

She's been coached to reply "I don't know" to most questions. She's let him lead her into a few "yeses", but is sticking with "I don't know".

Guess we aren't going to get to hear her potty mouth today. Hopefully, the DA does his best Lt. Daniel Kaffee and breaks her.
Why is cursing relevant at all?

I just want to hear her drop a few F bombs. Don't judge me.
I had a judge drop an F bomb in court while we were waiting for a hearing on Wednesday. Her reaction once she realized what she did was hilarious.

Let me wade into juror psychology. In my experience and training, females tend to judge other females harshly, and that is what the State wants. But when a female sees another female being treated harshly by a man, they tend to sympathize with that female.

The State should have had a female prosecutor doing this cross examination. That is what I do when a female needs to be harshly crossed. Especially a young female. It is sexist, but it's in the game.

He does seem like an ass. I wonder if the defense will bring someone in to testify about what happens to the body after a big adrenaline dump? Is it not normal to be subdued (i.e. not crying hysterically) after that wears off? Surely no reasonable person would expect that she would still be in hysterics by the time so many people had responded and she was outside in the car.

Not sure starting with trying to show she wasn't remorseful enough in the minutes after the shooting was the best way for the state to start. It has been tough to watch her testimony.

The State should have had a female prosecutor doing this cross examination

I wondered this too. My niece is an ADA is Texas. She's a damn good lawyer but 30-ish, slim and pretty. she is the designated cross examiner of young, pretty 30-ish something defendants.

She is just agreeing with the ADA.

ADA trying to paint it that if she thought Jean was dangerous or armed, she should have told the responding officer but didn't.

ADDA also hammering her on not doing CPR. This is probably her most questionable act.

Yea, it doesn't look good that she was texting and not giving CPR the entire time.

Did she start texting while still waiting for help or after help had arrived? Bad look either way but one is worse than the other.

Her offering help or not or texting or not in the minutes afterwards are irrelevant to me. Her state of mind of what happened in the seconds leading up to the shooting are what I care about.
