Step 1 of getting out of the rebuild is nailing this draft pick. Let's assume we get the number 1 pick for a moment. Who do we take? I admittedly haven't watched much college basketball this year, but I've watched Cunningham about 4-5 times. He doesn't impress me at all. He's been a horrible shooter in the games I've watched. To me he's a smaller, less athletic Ben Simmons. I don't see a position for him in the NBA. What do y'all think of Mobley? I have really only watched him once and it was last week when all of USC dominated Kansas. Scouts say he is an Anthony Davis starter kit. But if that's truly believed, then Cunningham wouldn't be everyone's choice for number 1. They say this draft is loaded, but I just don't see it. What do y'all think?

I disagree. Simmons is fine. Does a lot of things extremely well and a lot of things not. He's never going to be the beat player on a good team. I prefer full tank and rebuild.

I was happy with our team after the harden trade because it was a group of guys who wanted to be here and played hard. I don't like this group that purposely loses games. Rockets going to suck until 13 comes back...
After that disaster of an Olidipo trade, we are basically left with a last place team without talent.
Sure they could play hard and maybe move up a few places, but the potential outcome would be dropping from the first pick to the seventh. Honestly, the key to a relatively quick rebuild is finding a star player. Obviously you still have to identify, draft and develop this star player, but you have a waaaaayyyyyy better chance at #1 than #7.
If everything goes right, we are only bringing back 2-3 total players from this current roster. Their results and momentum will have no effect on the next batch.
Losing is the only clear long term strategy we have now.
Just turn the TV off and pick it up in a year.

That dude can ball. He can't shoot, but he can literally do everything else at an elite level.
He may not be a "star" on a good team, but he certainly can be the defensive anchor of a great one.
The mixed bag of picks that we possess could turn out to being absolutely nothing. Simmons is a guaranteed All star for the next 8 years. I would have taken the sure thing (in retrospect).
An All Star on a team that wins 40-45 games a year isn't very enticing to me. The 6ers have Harris who's stepped up too.

I might change my tune in 2-3 years if we draft really well and acquire really good talent, but that last set of trades didn't leave me with a ton of confidence in our front office.
