Possibly so, it may be my eternal optimism. But I also can see him getting cut and picked up by LAD and end up hitting .290 and 30 HRs
A couple of disclaimers up front before I get to my response. First, I'll own that I always thought signing Joc was a mistake and have never liked him or his player profile. Second, I recognize that most of what you just said was hyperbole.
That being said, what you just suggested was that at age 34, he's going to put up the best batting average of his career and his best HR total since 2019, 6 seasons ago. He's overweight, not in great shape - on average, those are not the type of position players who age well, especially factoring in that they tend to fall off after age 32 or so anyway. The exceptions tend to be the truly elite players…I can't remember a mid tier/average player who suddenly turned into a great player in his mid 30s (again, not talking about pitchers here, position players only).
If by some miracle, Joc gets cut and has a great season somewhere else, more power to him. I personally think the odds of that are about as likely as the chances I'm going to bang Sidney Sweeney, but I suppose miracles do happen. But even if that were to occur, that doesn't mean he had that same season if he had remained with the Rangers. Sometimes a change of scenery makes a difference, I have no idea why - it just does.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, on the modern day roster, the Joc Pedersons of the world are a liability, because he can't effectively play a defensive position for any amount of time, can't pitch run because he's slow and fat and can't get you a stolen base, and he's only effective (lolz) against RHP. At least a player like Ozuna can run and play solid defense. Joc is a paperweight at this point. JMO
