Yep, and during spring training, there was talk for a while that he was battling for a roster spot with a few other utility guys. We'd be in a bad spot without him the way he has played so far this season.

Looking at the standings around the league it's wild how average most teams have been so far. 14 teams are +/- 3 games from .500 and we're getting close to the quarter way point of the season.

Also some really expensive teams struggling mightily. Houston, Philly, Mets, Boston and Giants all at or near the bottom of the league.

This seems like the kind of year where 86-89 wins might win the AL West or Central.

Also of note, I believe today is the end of so called "rough stretch" of 40 or so games to start the season. After this, the schedule should start to normalize a bit for the rest of the season. In theory anyway.

But being 1 game out with some of your tougher games behind is not that bad of a place to be.

I was listening to a podcast today and learned something new. The ABS operator has two way communication with the home plate umpire in every game. If he sees him consistently calling low or outside or whatever, he can tell him during the game. So umps are getting real time feedback from the ABS operator even when challenges are not issued.

So.... what's the point of the ump making the call then? Why not just relay the correct ball/strike call down to the ump?

They've looked at it and right now there is a bigger delay than they'd like for the ABS to detect it, communicate it to the ump, and then have the ump make the call.

Joc is so bad

First inning at the plate - pitcher walks 2 and hits a batter and Joc swings at junk 2-0 and weakly grounds out

First inning in the field - dives at a ball in RF and isn't anywhere close and gives up 2 bases

Just turned the game on to see Jung lose a popup in the sun... with his sunglaases on top of his hat of course! Not doing a lot of good on your hat, sir.

Burger bailed him out with a nice play to end the inning.

Jung was tracking it and Seager was playing deep. Not putting that completely on Seager. Gore needs to get completely out of the way on that ball too, go cover 3rd base or something.

I grew up in a world where the 6 is always supposed to catch that ball if there's anyway he can reasonably get to it. I know MLB is different and I'm not disagreeing with you, but I'd really like to see Seager be large and in charge of that infield.

Love seeing Osuna run and touch the wall before a ball falls 20ft behind SS. That was awful and hurt Gore.
