Again i couldn't care less how the stadium looks as long as it's a fair place to play for both offenses and pitchers. But our park is so beyond pitcher friendly and we have to play 81 games here that it needs to get figured out tomorrow. Bring the damn fences in five feet idc.

What is it about our ballpark that it makes it so hard to hit homers? Serious question, if anybody has some idea

From what I have read, there's serious question about air flow inside the stadium, or lack thereof.

What's odd is that it seemed to start in 2024. It was a clear hitters park prior to that. At the end of 2023, it was the #6 hitters park in the league using 3 year rolling data. As of 2026, it is #29 using 3 year rolling data.

Maybe it's the makeup of the team skewing the park data a bit, but I'm curious if something changed with how they operate the AC, which doors stay open, etc in 2024. Seeing way too many well hit balls die and that was not the case before.

I've already attended my token game for the year and it was very stuffy.

Add it to the list of problems with the place.

It seems each year they add more and more stuff on the concourse.

I actually like the way the park plays. 2-1 games are awesome.

What sucks is... 3 years now, we can't figure out how to play to the park.

Pro Tip: If you can't hit a HR... hit for doubles.
Pro Tip: If small ball plays... a guy like Rocker who can't hold runners and can't field bunts, is a huge liability.

Less an issue about the dead park is, our players don't seem to know "where" to hit it for HRs. But the A's analytics team figured it out.

Not scoring with bases loaded and zero outs has nothing to do with the ballpark. It's the players approach and/or lack of ability which falls squarely on the shoulders of the player, coaching and CY.

I don't love the new stadium at all, my gripes have more to do with aesthetics and the general "multi-purpose cash grab" feel of the place....that said....

It plays the same way for both teams. So our struggles would seem to be more of a management/roster building issue than strictly a park problem. To me, this season is the first that CY should really start feeling some heat...roster construction -- offensively -- has been uninspired. I knew this year would be a struggle when they trotted out the "our guys need to play up to their capabilities" line. I get all the financial reasons why, but as a fan it's frustrating to watch.

If I'm not mistaken, both teams play in the same park under the same conditions, right?

We're 14-14 with Corey Seager batting 0.220 and Nate Eovaldi sporting an ERA 2 runs above his career average.

Wayyyyyyyy too early to be declaring this roster a dud.

Very true, lots can and will change. With pitching like ours, we'll be in almost every game. Hoping for a Langford surge once he's off the IL.

Some fascinating stories in baseball so far. You've got total tire fires in Boston and Queens, which are always amusing to watch from afar. The Mets offense has been abysmal; hopefully they're at least playing pickleball or something on their off days to keep the vibes up. Major red flags flying in Boston, sounds like it's approaching a full on mutiny. I've never been impressed with Craig Breslow, can't see how he survives much longer. And then there are our friends down south...wouldn't be surprised if they fire Espada and have a dead-cat bounce in mid-summer under a new manager (who the other thread will declare is a managerial genius) only to unravel down the stretch because their roster has players that are either ancient or brittle, or ancient and brittle.

Our experiences there over the last few years have been that it's hot and stuffy for the first couple of innings, but it seems to cool down as the game goes on. Maybe it's observation bias from walking in the heat across concrete to get in, where we're in a crowd until we get to our seats with a cold drink and have time to adjust. Or maybe it's due to having all of the doors open and lots of people coming in at the same time - may take time for the system to catch up.

Agreed but the Rangers do it 81x. Hitting a middle to left field and have it die on the warning track ways on you mentally. Other teams do it and go to the next park.

Although, bases loaded and no outs is not a situation where that is an excuse. Choke up…shorten your swing and just get the ball in play.

This is where I'm at. We went from the picturesque Ballpark to the new place with drab green carpet, corporate slop/clubs everywhere, stale air, spare game presentation, and a never-ending string of 4-hit offensive outputs. You couldn't keep me out of the old park. Ironically now I have a connection where I can get free tickets anytime (humble brag) and I go maybe twice per year.

If it helps you sleep better at night, it being a multi-purpose facility likely played a role in our willingness to go out and spend with the big boys.

But the design does seem like a generic copy paste of an indoor facility.

Yesterday, when there was one out with the bases loaded, after the first strikeout, knowing full well that you have got to get the runner home from third no matter wat, I'd have squeezed there. The A's had already shown you that defending bunting isn't their strong suit. With the feel of that game, and the lineup having its struggles like it does most games, Skip has to understand this situation and just get home a run there. Everyone watching Haggerty bat with one out and the bases loaded could just feel a strikeout or a double play getting ready to happen.

Then you'd have to find new former Rangers to correspond to the different distances!!

Lol. Also just for more data, there was an article written last year amidst growing concerns over the stadium that detailed well struck balls launched at certain degrees/velocities flew been 3-5 feet shorter than what the same balls were flying at parks across the league, on average.

Man, Leiter had been cruising along with a low pitch count. Then the infield dribbler for a hit... and then back to back lasers to LF.

Pretty funny how other teams can consistently punish meatballs down the middle while our hitters just stare at them. Maybe it's not the field? Maybe our hitters are just ass?

Hope something changes soon. Not a fun brand of ball the last two seasons.
