Gotta say that as much as I abhorred the idea of Krypto, that dog has grown on me. Best of these posters by far.

These look like a CW tv show promo art.

I still think this isn't going to work, but I would love to be pleasantly surprised by it if it does.

Yeah, strictly in terms of design, the print media and merchandizing for this movie has been pretty bad. It all just feels so minimum effort and uninspired. Then again, it's hard to make cheap, ****ty-looking costumes look great.

I have faith in the movie itself - I think Gunn will ultimately deliver when it comes to plot, character, fun, etc - but man the look of this thing continues to be a disappointment.

I'm glad someone else said it first. This looks like a CW Green Arrow / The Flash crossover promo.

Hawk Girl looks like the helmet was CGI-ed onto her head. The robot looks like it it's from a Pixar film, and I love dogs, but I'm sick of this dog.

I can't believe how bad that poster is. That is legit embarrassing and I don't understand how it got released. I would argue CW would put out a better product than that.

Gunn may be sniffing his own farts with this one.

I hope not.

That's as problem with most of the DC world. They look like comic book heroes no matter what. You can't make them look like they would ever fit in the real world. Flying around in blue spandex, red underwear and a red cape can never not look cheesy.

The MCU definitely had an easier time making it work.

Feel the same exact way. DC has always been "comical" appearing no matter what, which is why I think it's been so hard for the DC universe to translate to the big screen. There's just a feeling of "would they really be wearing this goofy attire in real life?" That takes away from what you're watching.

So you guys got me thinking. I agree with what you're saying about the look of these DCU costumes. So I started thinking about what exactly is the difference between these costumes and what we saw in the MCU. So hear me out.....90% of the "problem" is the helmet on Hawkgirl and mask on Mr. Terrific.

Yes, Marvel tended to tone down the comic book-ness of the costumes as the movies went on and make them more "real world" realistic. But you'll notice even from the start they didn't often do real life helmets/masks on the actors (correct me if I'm wrong here). Characters who traditionally wore masks....like Hawkeye, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Cap's America and Marvel..... rarely if ever wore the helmets or masks you see them wear in the comics.

Why? Because in real life it looks dumb. I don't mean the CGI masks like iron man and black panther wore. I mean real helmets/masks.

But that aesthetic, headfirst into "Golden Age Comics", seems to be exactly what Gunn is unabashedly going for. The question is will the audience in 2025 buy that, or is it now only into "realistic" looking superheroes?

You know they're going to have to have a thought bubble following Frank Grillo around anytime he's on screen saying "THIS IS RICK FLAGG" or 80% of the audience is going to assume it's Rumlow.

To be fair, the costumes for Mr. Terrific, Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl are apparently supposed to be corporate crap. The three of them make up the "Justice Gang" in the movie and all work for ******* billionaire Maxwell Lord. In contrast to them, from what I gather, Superman is supposed to be a breath of fresh air, independent, etc. The problem is that his costume looks like it was designed by the same designer who did the Justice Gang's uniforms. It all just feels/looks so cheap and, especially in Superman's case, overly busy.

All that said, I do agree with your mask point. My only note is that I think the masks/their uniforms are intentionally bad. Though, if so, the marketing hasn't done a very good job of communicating that intention.

Gotcha. And fingers crossed, just like Marvel did, maybe the costumes will become a less cheesy as this film universe progresses.

If this movie is good, Skyler Gisondo puts another brick on his place in my Entertainment Mount Rushmore after appearing in the Righteous Gemstones and as young Shawn Spencer on Psych.

Nice.

This one has a lot more new footage/dialogue but is unfortunately super bootleg/janky. Hopefully we get a high-quality version soon...

What if Superman got drunk at the baseball game and started running around on the field and that guy in black is just stadium security?

Someone is going to draw a targeting flag for that hit on Superman.
