Why isn't anyone running away?
Yes, that was was actually well done. I had seen the 3D version of the animated Beauty and the Beast, thought it looked awful, but the chance to see Jurassic Park again in a theater was too much to pass up.veryfuller said:
Jurassic Park did a 3D for its 30th anniversary too and it was awesome. And I typically hate 3D.
Very few movie experiences have wow'ed me quite like seeing Avatar in 3D. The movie, story, and acting were "meh", but the 3D and visuals were jaw-dropping.double aught said:
The best 3D ever is still 3D. No thanks.

Random sidenote, just watched Superman 78 while home with my parents, and we realized every major actor in it has already died. (Reeve, Kidder, Brando, Hackman, and Beatty)

And yet still a pretty rare occurrence, especially when the main characters were somewhat young.
It's like if Harrison, Carrie, and Mark Hamill were all dead.
James Gunn Says 'Superman' Is About an 'Immigrant That Came From Other Places' and How We've 'Lost' the Value of 'Basic Human Kindness': 'Yes, it’s About Politics' https://t.co/X3fCHq2yGc

#Superman’s immigrant identity is absolutely crucial to his character, and stating that fact shouldn’t be controversial.
— Sheraz Farooqi (@SherazFarooqi_) July 6, 2025
If Superman being an immigrant is an inflammatory political statement to someone, they inherently misunderstand the character. https://t.co/nWbLBNjdhU
Just a reminder that Superman was written by two Jewish immigrants. Has always been apart of his story. https://t.co/9wrkZN3QOT

There’s no controversy. Superman is from another fucking planet. He’s as about as much of an immigrant as you can get.
— Zach Cooper (@ZachCooper182) July 6, 2025
If that causes someone’s feathers to get ruffled then I hope they don’t see it. I don’t want to share a theater with those morons.
Superman is an immigrant refugee from a dying homeland, where they denied climate change & science. He was raised to care for others, grows up to be a journalist, his main enemy is a wealthy businessman who becomes President. His creators were Jewish. It was always political. https://t.co/VtElE8LQnP

"I mean, Superman is the story of America. An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost."

Releasing July 11 in theaters, David Corenswet stars as the iconic bespectacled superhero, depicted in the movie as an already established reporter at the Daily Planet dating Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan). When he gets drawn into conflict at home and abroad, the Man of Steel - and his trusty flying dog Krypto - must contend with swiftly shifting public opinion as tech billionaire Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) spots an opportunity to ascend.
"Yes, it's about politics," Gunn said of his take. "But on another level it's about morality. Do you never kill no matter what which is what Superman believes or do you have some balance, as Lois believes? It's really about their relationship and the way different opinions on basic moral beliefs can tear two people apart."

That last tweet is hilarious. "Denied climate change and science". Let's shoehorn in even more political b.s.
Zero issue with Superman being an immigrant. It's integral to his story. But I also don't think you can equate a fictional, God level space alien with someone from Mexico sneaking into Texas.
To Gunn, I can be kind and still say illegal immigrants should follow the legal path to get there like millions before them have.
It's the sane, common sense approach to this issue and is better for all if adhered to.
