Also, I read my first asoiaf book in 2011/2012 so I wouldn't rely on anything I remember or post about what's canon and what's not. I'm pretty much the old nan of this thread. I'm just here for the vibes and the memes and might drop some crazy lore every once in a while that may or may not be true.

This actually makes me think that GRRM has finished the books (all of them) and doesn't want to publish them until he dies (or at least expects to finish them before he dies). I had previously thought he would never finish them but maybe he will or has, and has told the showrunner the endings.

You're wrong and here's why. You're conflating fan fiction with speculation. Fan fiction alludes to some nerds making some stuff up to create their own version or story. Speculation is based on clues that most definitely do exist.

Meanwhile, the author laid down the word of God by confirming in front of a live audience in 2016 what everyone speculated, given the lengths he went to lay out the breadcrumbs for links between Duncan and Brienne (plus others).

This is exactly like Gandalf being a Maia in Middle Earth. It was never explicitly stated in The Hobbit or LotR, but Tolkien's later notes confirmed it.

I'm rereading the novella and was reminded of one thing the irked me with the show....the language. There is basically no cussing in the book...much like the GOT books. A sprinkling here and there is it. The amount of language in the show seemed forced and unnecessary. Maybe I'm just getting old...

I will say, rereading after watching the show makes me appreciate just how true to the book they were. Biggest change, language not withstanding ;-) , was the much bigger role of Lyonel Baratheon, which I think we can all agree was a win.

Can I say that I'm disappointed in the lack of female nudity compared to GOT and that I really expected them to at least deliver on Chekhov's cleavage if we weren't getting a full orgy scene with that sex knight. Should have known better. Can't wait for another euphoria dickfest on HBO

I guess this season 1 thread is all but done, but some casting has been made for Season 2.

Not adding who these actors and actress will play for non-readers, so Google or read the official article below at your own peril if you are super anti-spoilers. Though I don't think knowing who these folks will play will spoil the season 2 plot.

Holy moly, Peter Mullan! Braveheart, Trainspotting, Ozark and Westworld are some of my favorite performances of his.

Lucy Boynton - Have not seen her before but she's pretty hot. Her character will eventually be grandmother to two-time Hand Tywin, great grandmother to LC of the KG Jaime and Queen Cersei and great great grandmother to two kings, Joffrey and Tommen. I don't care how it was achieved, she had some impressive descendants.

Babou Ceesay - Not familiar with him.

Season Two will be another well contained and "small" story. Personally, I think it is smaller than the first unless they add a lot. Should be perfect for a 6 episode run.

I've seen reports that at least some of the episodes may be closer to an hour, so they must have some ideas for fleshing things out.

Not a book reader but wondering if it was foreshadowing when Dunk said he wondered if a hand and foot was worth a Princes life. Then followed it up with one day maybe the realm will need that hand and foot.
