For a minor house they actually do show up and make a relatively big impact on Targaryen history earlier in the dynasty's reign

I think so. The single POV and (mostly single) set location makes this show very easy to shoot. Theres no reason they can't release a season every year given S1 scale.

That's one of my very few minor complaints with the show so far. Maekar looks older than Baelor.

In reality the actor who plays Maekar is 49 and the actor who plays Baelor is 48 so you've got a point although I think the grey hair of Baelor is supposed to age him up.

I didn't realize the actor who plays Maekar also played Ole Munch from the most recent season of Fargo, pretty memorable character from that season:

Good point and I hope you're right and besides some flashbacks to Flea Bottom it's all set at the same location (although it's not hard to fake Flea Bottom if you only show it the way the show does).

ETA - I did hear the showrunner wanted to show parts of the Blackfyre Rebellion and that could mean different location shoots for those flashbacks.

Did i hear right in the flashback that Fleabottom would get worse now that Daemon's rebellion was over. Is this from HotD or something else? I thought HotD was hundreds of years in the past.

Saw on a YouTube comment that Raymun is the one who saves Dunk when Aerion was on top of him, and then immediately tanked a lance strike from his cousin.

What a real one. Make that man a Kingsguard.

Don't want to get into the lore behind it because that's entering spoiler territory.

It would be must watch TV. Really hope they bring it to life.

Wanted to come here and take my public lashings that I thought Baelor was the king. So I was like holy absolute **** balls the king just volunteered to fight for dunk against his own family and then you know uh whatever else happened.

Have been watching with a night cap at the end of the night so must've gotten my wires crossed somewhere lol.

Was enjoying this show as a more funny sidekick humor bit, so this last episode kinda threw me for a loop but still locked in. Just hope it doesn't turn into game of thrones everyone you care about ends up miserable.

Can you imagine going home to your dad, who is the king, and saying "so, uh I accidentally killed your heir in a blind rage."

I wish the Trial of Seven made more sense. Like, the Kingsguard should have been doing everything they can to keep Baelor separated from real harm, and I also figured they would have kept Aerion from actually losing a 1v1.

By the way, Aerion had some real skill in that fight. Dude worked Dunk over so bad. Just like Oberyn, he kept getting too close to a freaking ox.

I hope when Alt Shift X does his weekly breakdown, he uses some of his video to highlight what was going on with the other fighters in the background of these scenes. It was so hard to tell who was who and what was happening. Wish we had gotten more Baratheon vs King's Guard scenes.

I watched a nice breakdown today. Notion is that the kings guard were at least incapacitated because they were not active at the end and at least one by LB since he's shown fighting one and because it's 2v1 LB and Baelor versus Maeker at the end. Raymund is fighting his cousin almost the entire time. Raymund does save Dunk 1-2x when he was getting carved up.

Something I noticed rewatching episode 4 again at the end when Baelor rides up and removes his helmet (which is his son's helmet and armor) he has difficulty removing it which is a nice foreshadowing for what happens at the end of this episode.

In the book the one of the kingsguard gets badly injured, so badly another helps him off the field during the fight.

I think the third got knocked unconcsious by Lyonel

The margin on this format has to be far better than the other two series so the studio would have to be insane to blow it up with unnecessary characters and sets. I haven't seen the ratings but assume they are great and am sure the network is happy with the show as is.

Let's not forget these tragic events are all Aerion's fault. Aerion had the option for man-to-man trial by combat with Dunk but opted to get cute. He anticipated Dunk not having the support of six other knights. Maekar even chastised him about this.

All the blood is on Aerion's hands.

Very impressed with Raymun as it appears he not only had to fight off his cousin Steffon, who is a much more experienced knight, but was able to get two blows on Aerion to help Dunk ultimately win (especially his first blow).

Another great episode. Baelor was too good to be true. The fact that Baelor's head was caved in AFTER Aerion had yielded makes his death all the more tragic. Daeron's dream about a giant dragon collapsing dead on Dunk came true.

Things I don't understand:
  • How is Dunk physically alive? He took like 4 legit stab wounds/impalements?
  • Why TF was dunk not wearing plate armor? Who jousts in nothing but chainmail?!
  • Did Dunk actually lose his eye? or was it just like swollen shut?

I think Dunk got lucky on the placement of the stab wounds because by all accounts he should be dead.

As to plate armor I think he simply didn't have enough funds to purchase it, he had to sell one horse just to be wearing what he wore (he couldn't use any of Ser Arlen's as they were way too small).

I think his eye is just VERY badly swollen and should be OK. I have no idea as I haven't read any of the novella's but I would think they would prefer not having him wear a patch for the remainder of the series.
