Yeah, I've seen a video of a guy getting right up and walking and responding after being run over by a car and he ended up being far from fine with a broke leg, several broken vertebrae, and internal/brain bleeding. In the books he beats Aerion easily or they don't directly fight one another the entire time?

In the book it basically goes like this.

Dunk gets lanced in the upper side, not gut

Gets clocked in the head off his horse by Aerion

Aerion stands over him and basically says "Admit your guilt and I'll take your hand and foot" then quickly goes to land a killing blow

Dunk grapples him and beats him with the shield

Fight over (Aerion does try to cheap shot him with a knife and Dunk stomps on him)

They added A LOT to their fight

Duncan the Tall, the original Wolverine. Spear through calf muscle as a teen, still walking. Multiple stabs wounds, eye gouge, sword thrown into leg, and multiple flail hits; still walking

When is the last time we've seen a sword thrown like a dagger?

The crowd are the real winners. Showed up for a ceremonial jousting tournament. Get a true Royal Rumble as a free bonus.

Just think of Dunk didn't find a 7th, the crowd shows up for nothing but Dunk having his foot and hand chopped off…what an upgrade they got!

So how much trouble is Dunk in now? Is major ally is dead. I'm guessing the brother Targ will want some kind of revenge? Or maybe he's happy that his brother (rival) is dead? There are some great characters in this series. Can't get enough.

No idea what is going to happen yet but that was some amazing TV.

FWIW, Maekar is not next in line after Baelor.

Don't even have to go into book spoilers for this - Baelor has a son who is of age in the show. In GoT-verse (and probably IRL history too) - the next in line would be Baelor's son Valar, not Maekar.

Book spoilers, there are also two brothers in between Baelor and Maekar - Maekar is Daeron the Good's youngest son, Maekar still has two older brothers - Aerys (not the Mad King) and Rhaegel, who has children of his own

Also not a book spoiler because it was actively discussed in the show - the mace-blow that caved in Baelor's helmet came FROM Maekar. Baelor literally says it offhand before he starts to lose sensation in his fingers.

It's odd how different the feeling is when you know the story vs someone who hasn't read the novella. I was watching it with my wife who hasn't read it and she was in shock - meanwhile I knew what was coming and I was just dreading every second Baelor was talking after the fight, waiting for the other shoe to drop.

They literally showed the moment Maekar bonks Baelor...he kinda backhands him as he's rushing to try to rescue Aerion

I did find it pretty compelling that they painted it as Maekar was so desperate to get to Aerion he was fighting unrestrained. Just seeing red.

Right after Aerion yields after Dunk punches him. When Dunk looks up to observe everything around him

The Seven have declared him innocent, and his accuser is alive, if bloodied, as dad won't want revenge. If he was a high lord, it might be weird at court, but as a random hedge knight, he'll be fine.

I'm doing another series watch thru and picking up a lot more nuances in the plot that I didn't catch the first time.

When Dunk first meets Egg he asks him if he is the stable boy and Egg never answers him and Dunk just makes that assumption. When the Innkeeper asks Dunk if her stable boy saw to his horses or if he ran away we assumed she was referring to Egg but obviously the real stable boy had run away.

Hell we have a guy on TexAgs that took 9 AK rounds to the chest and abdomen during GWOT and is still here.

It happens very quickly.

Dunk hits Aerion in the thigh. Maekar backhands Baelor in the head and runs towards his son. Lyonel rides in and is unhorsed. Maekar shouts "My boy." Harry says, "He's back. He's back. Voldemort is back."

Have been rewatching with my wife as she wanted to catch up after seeing the ep 4, and it's really interesting how Egg doesn't ever lie to Dunk. All his answers are absolutely truthful, they're just perfectly vague when you know who he is.

Not searching as I don't want to accidentally run across spoilers, but do we know why Maekar as the older brother wasn't in line ahead of Baelor?

Maeker is the youngest brother (youngest of 4 actually).

That's one of my very few minor complaints with the show so far. Maekar looks older than Baelor.

Can we talk about Daeron's dreams? He tells Dunk that he dreamed of him and there was a a great dead dragon that fell on top of Dunk but he survived and the dragon did not. He did not know who killed the dragon.

Was Baelor the dead dragon or is this a premonition for another future event?

The Sun

I would presume it was in reference to Baelor. He is Crown Prince and Hand of the King, thus a great dragon.

Pretty cool seeing Lyonel talk to Dunk in the trailer. You can tell once a guy stands up for what's right and sees it through, the respect is up about 10 notches.

My interpretation is that it is indeed Baelor and that's 100% not book spoilers because I honestly don't remember the specifics of any prophecies in the novellas lmao

Anyone else think some of the minor houses are a bit cheesy? I know they all can't be as cool as House Lannister or the Targaryens but House Beesbury of Honeyholt, "Beware our Sting"? C'mon GRRM you can do better. Ser Humfrey Beesbury even had a honey colored mustache. I love this show but that's really scraping the bottom of the barrel for me.

House Fossoway of Cider Hall whose words are "A Taste of Glory". That's awful.

I'll hear no Beesbury slander, they're GOATed.

For a minor house they actually do show up and make a relatively big impact on Targaryen history earlier in the dynasty's reign
