I'm headed up Thursday afternoon to Loveland. Plan on skiing Sat, Sun, and Mon. On The Snow is showing highs of -14 and -13 on Sunday and Monday. It'll be interesting to say the least
where did you end up getting lodging? and what week? we're going up the week of the 16th and couldn't find anything that great on the lodging front.Ag_09 said:
For anyone still looking for this season, Winter Park has a killer deal right now until tomorrow. I just booked a 4 night spring break trip (lodging and 3 days of lift tickets for two adults and two kids for ~$2600. Figured I may as well book as it is free cancelation up to 22 days prior to trip if I find a better option.
Yeah, those inserts are branded cardboard.MouthBQ98 said:
I just finished another round of research on gear mods and maintenance and realized I have been an idiot for skiing on factory footbeds last year. I ordered some trim to fit ones that should fit my medium arch foot shape, I have zero knowledge about them but I took at shot and ordered some brand called Sidas because they looked well built and could arrive in time for me to trim and fit and test them out before we leave on the 24tb.
I'm hoping they give me better contact with the boot bottom over the bottom of my foot. I never realized the factory ones are basically throw aways.

I have boarded in -20 no wind. Have to suck it up on the open lifts then get right after it on runs that make you work hard. Can't be standing around talking about it keep after it. Then just skip lunch on the hill because if you go inside you probably won't be able to go out again.
Oh cool.Ag_09 said:
Good to know. I've never been to winter park. In fact just getting back into skiing now that my kids are old enough. Just took them on their first ski trip to granby a couple of weeks ago. It was the perfect spot for them to learn!
I'll be sure to post a review when we get back.
Nice. I've drank quite a few beers there. Like all mountain towns, they struggle to find help. Sometimes I've been there with 1 waiter for 15+ tables. Finding a seat at the bar is really hard!MAS444 said:
Go to Big Trout Brewery. Owned by one of my best college friends brother in law.

I just can't stomach the prices of other hills for a weeklong trip with the entire family. We've skied Canada, Europe and most large hills in the US (Steamboat, all of the I-70s minus Aspen, Crested Butte, Wolf Creek, Tahoe, etc.), but always come back to Winter Park.
It's become more and more expensive with its IKON ownership but I feel like it's one of the last "small ski towns" that still has some modern amenities at affordable pricing. I've actually never stayed at the base. In fact, there were no lodging amenities at the base 20 years ago (math could be off).
They are less than any Vail resort (that I've seen, especially when buying in advance). Less than Steamboat.Aggie_Boomin 21 said:ChoppinDs40 said:

I'm guessing you're saying the lodging options are more affordable than other resorts? Because Winter Park lift tickets are among the most expensive in the country.
$853 right now. So 20%+ less than some of those other ones.Aggie_Boomin 21 said:
Yeah $525 is a good price. Definitely wouldn't be that at this point in the season.
Yeah I looked at those at the time and pricing was a little more for the Ikon pass. I didn't buy them until November. If you jump on it in August/September, then it can be had for cheap. Didn't look at Epic as lodging is insane on the I70 big boys.HUEY04 said:
If you look at an Epic or Ikon pass you can likely get a better price than that. I bought an Epic 4 day pass last year for $376 and used all 4 days at Telluride which is a partner resort. This year I got a 7 day for like $650 that I'm using for Park City and Telluride. Now lodging may be an entirely different matter but I just paid $1,650 for 5 nights in Park City and am getting 6 nights in Telluride for $4,200 for a place that will accommodate 6-8 next month.
