Jojo Rabbit, Little Women and Ford v. Ferrari got Best Picture nods. Interesting.
I am way behind in my viewing this year. Only seen Once Upon A Time... and last week watched Joker. Wasn't that impressed with Joker. He seems to be a near lock for Best Actor, but I always feel like roles where you play insane seem easy to me. You can just basically do whatever, chew the scenery, scream, cry, laugh, it all fits because hey, you're insane.
Then again I was doing a near 3 hour ride on the trainer, so maybe I wasn't in the best mental state to enjoy it

Surprise nom for John Williams. Probably not going to win, but still great to see him break his own record for nominations. As the GOAT, this is just a show of respect.
Other notable things:
Todd Phillips for Joker
No nomination for DeNiro (who lost a lot of steam in the last couple of months)
No nomination for Taron Egerton, who won the Globe for best musical or comedy
No real surprises other than that. OUATIH got all the nominations it should have gotten. At this point it's my pick to win Best Picture.

Klaus (Netflix) and Missing Link are both fantastic if y'all haven't seen them, and I've heard great things about I Lost My Body (Netflix) but haven't seen it yet.
The Oscars are worthless. The best roles and movies are the ones you watched and enjoyed the most. Don't let a bunch of disconnected elitists get you upset.

I must have really missed the boat with OUATIH and The Irishman. Thought they were both really meh. Rooting for 1917. Will also be watching some of the nominated Netflix movies in the next couple weeks.
