I think you'd be surprised the other way around. I used to watch it, but I got tired of getting lectured to by attractive people with HS degrees. I know there are plenty like me.PatAg said:you'd be surprised at how few people actually care enough to keep from watching, that would have been watching otherwise.aTmAg said:

The academy awards ratings have been going down for years. NFL ratings went down during the kneeling BS, and went back up as that went away. The phenomena is not isolated to the Oscars.fig96 said:Most folks are fine with politics as long as they're politics that agree with their own.aTmAg said:

And film, sports, and music have been interwoven with politics for years, despite some trying to make you believe that this is a recent phenomenon.
Says literally the most easily offended conservative I've ever encountered, who is infamous for constantly lecturing people on an entertainment message board.aTmAg said:I think you'd be surprised the other way around. I know more about economics, history, politics, etc. than teenagers. I don't lecture people on on here or anywhere else about quantum mechanics or how to rebuild a transmission, because I don't know about that stuff. That's the difference.
If Hollywood stars want to throw out their opinion on movie making, have at it. They know more about that than any of us.
Yeah, I LOL whenever movie/rock stars spout about stuff they have 0 clue on as well.MBAR said:aTmAg said:I think you'd be surprised the other way around. This is a huge generalization that I don't agree with at all. Are there plenty of stars who yap and yap about crap they know nothing about? Absolutely. But there are also tons who essentially make their causes their second jobs - with the vast amount of free time they have between gigs - and devote that time to studying the issues, sitting on boards, traveling to locations of interest, etc. You may not agree with some of their causes, but there are plenty of stars who *are* knowledgeable and *do* walk the walk. You can't just sit there and say every celeb is a moron with nothing more than a high school degree, because that's not even close to the truth.
I just don't tune in anymore. I have better things to do. I haven't watched the Oscars since Private Ryan lost.MBAR said:Apparently you get mad and turn off your TV..aTmAg said:Yeah, I LOL whenever movie/rock stars spout about stuff they have 0 clue on as well.MBAR said:aTmAg said:I think you'd be surprised the other way around. The beacon of politics has been lit and aTmAg has come like the red angry moth he is. The dude literally has no film/entertainment related opinions to share. His life is run by politics and he only posts here when he's offended.Chase McGuire said:

And sitting on boards, reading like-minded authors, and marching in rallies does not make one educated on something.
What is ironic about that? Unlike Hollywood morons, I expose myself to opposite viewpoints all the time.MBAR said:Holy **** you're on the irony roll tonight. I'm not offended. I didn't watch. I have no idea what was said last night, if anything. I'm just expressing my opinion on what would make the ratings improve.M.C. I'm in this thread explaining why I think the ratings were down (which was already being discussed here). I'm certainly qualified to talk about that. Since I, and many people like me, didn't tune in for a reason.MBAR said:Yeah we know man. Which is why its hilarious you're in this thread. Agreed, and I think it is an absolute travesty that Klaus didn't win. They used a never before seen form of animation, and the story was lightyears better than Toy Story 4. I am still in shock that this film was actually hand drawn.spanky said:
I was kind of upset with Toy Story 4 winning best animated film. Don't think it is even in the same realm as Toy Story or Toy Story 3, and it is sad to see it as an Oscar winner while much better films (Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, Lego Movie, Moana, Your Name., Fantastic Mr. Fox, etc.) didn't win and didn't even get a nom in some cases. It's hard to buy Pixar's pitch of we make movies for families when they are pumping out several sequels for $$$ now.
