Tom Cruise deserves an Oscar. He's been due for a long while. Even though his religion is wacko.

This is the kind of crap celebs should get sh/t for. I can respect those who walk the walk, but I'm right there with some of you when it comes to those who preach but don't do...

Save for Phoenix's rant, which I admittedly tuned out and don't remember most of, the only other political message I heard all night was Pitt's John Bolton comment, which wasn't that controversial, considering a number of people on both sides of the isle seem agree that it's standard practice to, you know, allow witnesses at a trial. I didn't see that as "sh/tting on red America" at all. I'm with you that celebs can certainly be sanctimonious blow hards, but I honestly felt that the political messaging was incredibly tame last night.

"yours and Pitt's little pithy comment" - I just feel cool being associated with Brad Pitt in this manner, as if we're buds.
Because the democrats knew, regardless of how many witnesses they called in the house, they would never have enough evidence to get 2/3rds in the Senate to impeach Trump. They also knew they could scream all about "more witnesses" in the Senate, not get the votes to get more witnesses and then claim "cover up" and their lemmings in the media, and hollywood would fall for it.c-jags said:what distortion?TCTTS said:

if that's the case, why do you need more witnesses?
Look, I know you live in hollywood and it's not like you always fall lock and step with dems, but that comment was asinine on your part.
YOUR rep said we had enough evidence to take to to the senate, then when he got there, said we need more witnesses because our case isn't strong enough without them. All they had to do was wait a few weeks to get the testimony and they honest to God probably could have got him.
i'm not a Trump voter. i think he's a moron, but yours and Pitt's little pithy comment was BS and you know it.

I hear you. That's annoying.
Reminds me of the people who hop on threads about a Star Wars movie and quickly bash it based on "everything they've read"
I didn't watch the Oscars, but I didn't comment at all on what was said on Suday. My comment had to do with the discussion here at the time regarding the bad ratings the Oscars were getting. People were pondering if it was cord cutters, twitter, and things like that. My point was that the reason I and people like me didn't watch was because of all the politics they spout. It was completely on topic and one of several legitimate reasons viewers are turned off by the Oscars.fig96 said:
I'd wager most posters here would actually be happy to discuss Politics with others who have an interest in the topic as it relates to The Oscars, entertainment, etc. I certainly would.
The problem is, if you look at the politics related posts in this thread most are from people who admit they didn't even watch the show and immediately start painting others with a broad "Hollywood mindset" brush. They aren't here to actually discuss anything, they're here to state their opinion as loudly as possible and fan the flames.
