I WAS ALL SET UP TO BINGE THIS AT WORK AND I LOG INTO MY NETLFIX AND I CAN'T WATCH BECAUSE MY MOTHER IS WATCHING JR@#45WKFD BRIDGERTON.

Also, I definitely came to post this with my eyes comically squinted to try to avoid spoilers

Episode one
warning: rambling thoughts as I watch:

"you are being emotional" "I'll rip your tongue out" ...good counterpoint.
(hot take.. wendy is so much much much worse than skyler in breaking bad ever thought about being. That's a hill I can die on)

where did Ruth get a brand new truck with a cd player in it?

I kinda ship ruth and frank jr.

I dont feel like that is how that interaction would go in the diner. it would start with damn little white girl knows her ***** then maybe it would go into that..but there is zero chance her size, color, and gender wouldn't get mentioned.

Javi is the worst and he makes the whole show worse.

the shaw medical chick should be ****ting her pants that the Byrde's have just so little control that some girl is here holding them hostage. Run for it.

please please keep him dead. stay dead javi, stay dead. ****, who is gonna tell his uncle?

I binged all 7 episodes last night. I can't quite put my finger on why, but I feel a little disappointed after waiting for these episodes. Maybe the writing was lacking in the last 2-3 episodes like they were trying to rush to an ending.

This. Still a great show overall, but the finale left a little something to be desired.

She's had that truck… and it looks about 10 years old.

Did anyone else feel like the storm they were talking about on the radio in the second to last episode was a bit of an unfired checkhov's gun? I know it was present in the scene where Rachel kills Nelson, but it seemed like there was a lot of pointing to it with very little payoff.

Agree as a whole that the last couple of episodes felt a bit rushed in general. I think the ending was fitting thematically, specifically with everything turning into a family business, but I feel like maybe having Camila kill Ruth in front of them and giving the equivalent of "see you at work on Monday" could have better driven home the whole idea that they're all involved now and there's no breaking from the cycle..

I think she got it in pretty of the earlier seasons, but its not.like they showed off the cd player before.

However, my car is also ten years old and neither of my last two cars had cd players in them.

That truck is probably closer to 20 years old.

I must have missed this one part.... how did the Byrdes get Ben's ashes? Did Nelson deliver the body to them for cremation at their funeral home?

Yes, Nelson brought his body to the funeral home and Marty took care of it.

Yeah you're right, google says it's a 2003. So it definitely would've had a CD player.

Are you referring to how they ended up with the ashes in the last episode? If I remember correctly, Ruth gave them to Jonah to take with him when they left

No, I was referring to how they got them originally.

I liked the ending.
I didn't like the completely unrealistic power that Wendy had to influence the FBI to trust her to be able to manage how a drug cartel could be trusted.
But I believe one point the producers were trying to show was how the rich run and control everything.

Thought the ending was alright. Wasn't great but I don't have any big issues with it.
Jonah shooting Mel might be dumb for me. Up until that point I don't think any of the Byrds had directly killed someone, so I don't think that should have been as normal to them as it seemed. I suppose we didn't see anything so I guess maybe that didn't happen.

Ruth dying sucked, but looking back it probably should've been predictable given who was left.

Also still wish Wendy hadn't won. Her deep passion for doing the right thing in regards to the voting machines is still an eye roll for me. It's also kind of funny to me that it took a literal car wreck, that for a short moment made it appear she was seriously injured or dead, for her kids to stop hating her.

Overall, a HELL of a series, maybe one of my favorites ever. Ending was not what I expected but is it ever…?
My mind was racing 100 ways in the final scene
Definitely look forward to rewatching it from the beginning soon, it's been awhile since I've seen season 1 and 2
Jason Bateman is a hell of an actor
there were skittles in there!

I really felt like this season went off the rails a little for me. I had a lot of eye roll moments at the level of influence/power they gave Marty and Wendy.

It kind of felt like they wrote themselves into a bit of a corner and anytime they didn't know what to do they either just killed the character off or Marty/Wendy exerted an unbelievable level of influence to get around it. I really enjoyed the series up until the point the FBI was basically helping run the cartel. After that it just got a little too far beyond belief for me on several fronts.

Overall it was a well made and entertaining series, but I didn't love the way they wrapped it up.

Finally finished it last night. I couldn't get over the lack of rebar in the bottom of the pool before they started spraying the gunite.

I know it's been that way all series, but the Wendy and Marty in bad position pull it completely out of their ass and land on their feet was getting a bit old. Good for Jonah, finally sacked up for the family. Thought the car crash scene was a little forced, also, final tiny nitpick, there were cars all over the place and no one ran up to the van as they all sat there and realized how much they loved Wendy.

Seems like the ending was out of gas and coasting into the pit stop area. Didn't even know who the rapper was when Ruth stopped in to visit. I guess John Boy had some fun being the bad guy?

The entire show is Wendy being a control freak narcissist. She admits to letting her brother stay just to mess with Marty which ends up having her give her brother up and having him killed. She checks herself into a mental hospital. Classic passive aggressive move. Could go on and on.

Now I don't get the kids wanting to leave with their grandpa bc they should have at least wanted to stay with their dad.

But let's get the kids to love their mom by showing them their grandpa is just as messed up as their mom and thinking she might be gone from a car crash. OK, that's just lazy writing.

Their lawyer or whomever he was who was always able to find people of influence or just get something done because Wendy asked seemed to be a major deux machina.
That was lazy writing

Great point, that was indeed lazy writing numerous times throughout the show.

He wants nothing to do with them but they tell him it's all good now. So he's like OK, let me be super man again and get tons of rich people on board with you.

Grandpa should have taken the money. And sorry but he would have in real life. But no in this show, I'm going to pass up 2 mil just to mess with my daughter. OK

2 stupid things that bothered me:

1) what did Ruth and Rachel do with Nelson's SUV

2) how the hell did Ruth find all these great street parking places in downtown Chicago?

Duh, she buried it under the pool with Nelson inside like Kurt Russell did in Used Cars. She was digging ALL NIGHT in the hole that took an excavator to clean out.

I had the same thought on the SUV. It wasn't the first or even second car that just disappears without explanation either. That definitely bothered me as a viewer.

Maybe Marty also had a junk yard business.

He had a crematorium to get rid of bodies. Probably bought a junk yard to dispose of cars.

I haven't completely read the whole thread because I'm not done, but grandpa trying to save the kids makes sense. Kids wanting to be stashed away somewhere safe actually makes sense. What doesn't make sense is Wendy and Marty not thinking it makes sense to keep them away and safe until they are actually "out" since they keep saying they are "so close" to getting out. (I'm in episode 12)

It might have hit me different because I am religious, but the "if you escape, God will still know" hit pretty hard.
That whole conversation was good.
