I for sure didnt expect the scene with Darlene, and Wyatt. And the "whoever you are" apology.

I was actually thinking Jonah has become insufferable.
He seems exactly like a kid would be who is raised by Wendy and Marty. He loved Ben and his motives seem pure to someone raised in a dysfunctional family to me.

I haven't made it through the whole season yet, but Jonah seems like the only logical character in the famiy. The rest of the Byrdes keep telling themselves "I just have to do this one last thing and I'm free" except that one thing keeps changing and they keep buying into the lie.

Watched all 7 episodes and wanted more immediately. Thought it was great.

I'm completely thrown by people's dislike of Jonah. As someone said above, Jonah seems like someone who is a product of f'd up parents who put him in that position. Is he right 100% of the time? No. But I do think his motives are pure as well and he's trying to have his parents (more pointedly, Wendy) pay for what happened to his Uncle Ben.

I think he's being kind of a moron since he's clearly not opposed to doing illegal things (working for Ruth). He's putting them in really risky positions that could screw all of them. If his motive is purely to get back at Wendy for Ben, then it makes sense, I guess. But if he's upset because he thinks everything they do there is ****ed up, then he's being somewhat hypocritical at this point. I think people are just bothered by his recklessness. It'd be different if he was just locking himself in his room all day because he hates his family now..

I agree with you Hoss. I don't think he's being pure and logical at all. I think he's being naive and childish. He's a smart kid so I'm surprised he doesn't realize Ben had no future because his mental illness and his demonstrated actions already made him a dead man walking. He would have eventually gotten the entire family killed. Maybe Jonah does realize this but his desire to lash out and get back at Wendy override his logic. I think this eventually leads to Wendy getting killed.

Can someone remind me what the point of Wendy's non-profit organization is for? Just more money laundering?

Unpopular opinion: If you have other shows to watch, wait for Part 2 to come out and rewatch at least S3 finale.

So agent used-to-be-pregnant went behind her bosses back as a F you for keeping her in the dark, right? That was a ballsy move. Think she got fired?

I don't think she got fired, but I bet she gets capped by the end of it.

That move was totally unexpected from me. After she found out they went behind her back, I figured she'd take Marty up on his job offer.

I honestly thought it was the FBI head screwing Navarro over once again. I can't imagine pulling that move with a newborn though. She knows how the cartel reacts when slighted.

Rewatch the last 2 episodes of S3. The penultimate really hammers home how messed up Ben is and how he just doesn't get it regarding the situation he caused.

Right, but are we not missing the point that it's only a life-or-death situation because his sister and brother-in-law are part of an international drug syndicate? If Marty and Wendy had their pre-money laundering jobs, Ben's actions would just be a family struggle.

I'm also confused about the political/lobbying angles. If the Byrds now have immunity for all of their crimes from the FBI, why do they still care about what happens to Claire and the drug company? And why are they still advancing the Byrd family foundation? All of those actions were solely a front to launder cartel money and now they're out of it, right?

Once Maya pulled her stunt, that all went out the window. It appears they are only going to be out of it once Javi is dead.

That and Wendy is an egomaniac who wants to control politics throughout the midwest.

I think also, the non-profit organizations she started were just another way to help Navarro and his kids be legitimate when/if they move to USA. Plus, she has been saying she wants her brand to show they're upstanding citizens. Having a non-profit shows she cares and gives back to the community when she "doesn't have to."

I don't think anyones missing that point. Yes, take it up one level and all of this is Marty's/Wendy's fault for putting the family in a dangerous situation when Marty first agreed to work for the cartel.

They first tried to mislead the cartel and get Ben to safety and disappear, but that would only work if he never spoke of it to anyone. Unfortunately he could never accept the fact he would never be able to make it right. Wendy had an impossible choice to make.

This season has had a definite GoT S8 feel to it. You'd think Chicago and Lake of the Ozarks were as close as Castle Black and King's Landing. Ruth just needs some dragons and everything will work out.

Some questions because a lot happened very fast in episode 7.
  • How did Jonah know that Javi shot Darlene and Wyatt? For that matter, how is Jonah even aware of Javi's existence, let alone his full name?
  • What happened to Omar's deal? He doesn't have any leverage anymore now that the FBI cut a deal with Javi. Wendy said he'd be free in 48 hours, but then what? The FBI double crossed Omar, apparently?

FFS I'M ON Ep 4 and no one is floored JohnBoy is Laura Linneys father? He's 70. She's 57 and Jason Bateman is 53. I love this show but they were very lazy in casting. I don't mind a 4 year difference in a marriage but she's not aged well. And now a man 13 years older is her "father". This is ridiculous. I'm sorry. I'm 48 and old enough to have followed ALL their careers. And it's ridiculous.

It's always bothered me. Laura Linney is an aging actress. Jason Bateman is not. He's aged well. Throw in JohnBoy as Dad... yes it pisses me off. It's lazy casting. I love all of them. They're great actors. But there is so much belief I can suspend.

Meanwhile Darlene is a hag as she should be. Fits her character.

She's a year older than Laura...
