I agree with you Hoss. I don't think he's being pure and logical at all. I think he's being naive and childish. He's a smart kid so I'm surprised he doesn't realize Ben had no future because his mental illness and his demonstrated actions already made him a dead man walking. He would have eventually gotten the entire family killed. Maybe Jonah does realize this but his desire to lash out and get back at Wendy override his logic. I think this eventually leads to Wendy getting killed.

really want Wendy to take a bullet as she is the most repulsive of all the characters

but because this is the USA and Hollywood- they will never harm main characters.

this is why international pictures/series are usually better as they are more realistic in real life and don't give us the "Snow White" treatment every time

the downfall of this series is that they come up with good plots to put the Boyds into a messy situation where you can't see how they get out of it...

then, the idiocy is that it takes them literally three minutes to get out of it.

FBI drops in and takes down Navarro? Uh oh!! What will happen now?!?!

two minutes later, Boyds have changed outfits, set up a meeting with the highest levels of the FBI, driven to chicago, gone through building security, had a meeting walking down a public hall in a building with the top executives of the FBI, convince the FBI to do what they want in 26 seconds, and meet with Navarro in his cell.

all in 10 hours.
GoT S8 says "Hello"
And Season 1 (King and Ned), 3 (Cat and Robb), Season 4 (Geoffrey, Oberyn). Lots of "mains" and fan favorites bit the dust throughout.

In his defense those stories weren't written by "Hollywood". That was in the source material.

I can think of 3 shows off the top of my head that had main characters killed: Breaking Bad, The Wire, and The Americans which happen to be my #1, #2, & #3 of all time.

I love Breaking Bad and The Americans, but I just can't get into The Wire. Tried to start it twice now and can't get past second episode. Is it one of those series you have to power thru the first several episodes before it takes off? Or if I don't like it now I never will?

Yeah, you have to power through for a few. I remember watching the first episode live in a hotel a long ass time ago. I thought it was boring and "preachy". Then years later, I got HBO myself and was looking for something to watch, had heard the Wire was the #1 show in history (at the time), and so gave it another shot. It took a few episodes (I forget how many) but I got hooked. I'd say if you watch the 1st season and are still "meh" then you won't like the rest, since, unlike CSI shows, the "case" is the entire season not just a single episode.

in REALITY- they would NEVER get a meeting set up with the head of the FBI ("Hi FBI can you connect me with the senior regional director I would like to meet with him in a public hallway tomorrow morning")

every "solution" is just writers sitting in LA thinking "okay now have this plane show up, and then this meeting, then these people do this one thing which they have no reason to actually do"

also, annoying as hell that the Boyds are always sitting around making breakfast, talking around the breakfast table, doing some work on laundering money... then "oh Jonah time to go to school!"

does his school start at 11:30 every day?!?!

because when I went to high school I was out the door by 0715.
My wife's biggest complaint, even with all the windows in the Boyd house, is WHY THEY HELL IS IT ALWAYS SO DARK IN THAT FREAKING PLACE? DON'T THEY HAVE LAMPS AND LIGHT FIXTURES?

Boardwalk Empire -- Jimmy is as much the central character is Season 1 as Nucky, offed in Season 2. Nucky at the end.

Black Sails -- Eleanor Guthrie didn't make it.

Finished watching the new season last night and loved episode 7. The rest of the season was pretty meh to me by Ozark standards, every episode just felt the exact same. Still think they could've done better with pacing, as so much **** happened in episode 7 versus 1-6. I guess that's kind of the Ozark way though.

Was also really hoping Ruth would take out Wendy at the end. Not been a fan of her psychopathic ***** character arc last two seasons.

I enjoyed Boardwalk a lot. Very cool period piece.

I'm a pirate junky so Black Sails is a favorite. Think of it as a prequel to Treasure Island, but with a lot of historical, non-fiction pirates and events mixed in.

I love the Wire (unpopular opinion) but I always thought the 1st season dragged. I've always though it was one of the weaker seasons.

The Wire is a slow build up. The "magic" does not happen immediately. IMO the 2nd season when they go to the docks is a little bit better than season 1.

By the time you get to Season 3 and 4 you start realizing that acting, storylines and plot are GOATish.

I've have the same thoughts on Breaking Bad. I didn't care for the first 1.5 season of Breaking Bad....its also a slow buildup to the great drama that encompasses the rest of the show

I think the problem with shows like BB and Wire for those who didn't watch them when they came out is that they are have such hype built around them being called "all time greatest" shows. People go in expecting instant perfection when the fact is pretty much all long running shows take a bit to find their stride and fully flesh out what they want to be. At the time, it was fun because you were going into it not knowing what to expect and not sitting there thinking "this is what people think is the best ever?".

You want a show that you will instantly be like "oh wow" from the start, try LOST. Then good luck with the final seasons of that.

Bombing the offices of Byrde Enterprises wouldn't concern you?
Maybe, but apparently you can also shoot the boss' son's dick off without retribution other than the boss showing up alone, unarmed, and demanding money that was owed anyway. Then, of course you just shoot the boss. Without retribution. Then the dickless new boss will continue to do business with you. Without retribution. Yes, I understand Frank Jr. is incompetent but even Frank Sr. seemed to have lost his bite towards the end. If this organization is so formidable, how are they just letting Jr assume the role of leader? Perhaps someone from within will challenge for leadership and offer the Byrds additional headaches moving forward.
Frank Sr. going to Darlene's alone to threaten her, knowing her past, was something that really bothered me. Mob guys know there is power in numbers, which Darlene doesn't have. Why the hell would you go alone?
This easily bothered me the most about this season. This crazy lady shoots your kid's d*** off and has no qualms blowing someone's head off without hesitation, and you waltz into her house and start berating her with no protection??? Much less watch her walk into another room.

That and Officer Nix getting killed and the whole town being pretty "meh" about it. Otherwise the writing has been solid.

definitely this is the weakest season where it is easy to see what is going to happen in the next 5 minutes.

I literally looked away as soon as the mob boss walked in knowing there was going to be a shotgun blast

Unless Marty nukes one of the cartels, looks like Darlene will walk off with the most kills trophy, even though she won't add to her count in the second half of season 2. Her tainted smack pushed her into a seemingly insurmountable lead.

I'd like to see Wendy suffer the sort of fate that Vic Mackey does at the end of the Shield, mastermind your way into setting up everyone else to take the fall for you, and then everyone you care about either ends up dead or turns their back on you, and you're left with nothing.

I'd also like to see her get into a situation where the only way to stay clean is to kill Jonah the way she set up Ben to die and see what she does.

Marty felt like a supporting character in the first half of the season, which felt weird. Maybe he'll set her up to be the new power and then kill her.

Kind of hoping the car crash is a dream, like the time Wendy dreams of killing Marty.

Hope Ruth gets out of town, with or without Three. Girl really deserves some long-term happiness. Park her ass on the beach somewhere and never work another day in her life.

As someone else said, Marty has to choose to save the kids or save Wendy and he chooses the kids - Wendy dies because of the monster she has become.

She's much more evil than Marty.

Also, who is the lesbian wheelchair chick that Ruth gets those seeds from?
What purpose does that character serve if any? Ruth just got seeds from her to give to Wyatt to start a garden with, correct?

It's probably been since GOT or Breaking Bad that a show made blurt "holy ****ing ****" out loud. My wife has not watched a single episode and she asked me if she should watch Ozark. I told her, if she can handle the intensity and pressure of Good Time & Uncut Gems, mixed with some Breaking Bad and Narcos, then go right ahead and watch Ozark.

Just finished and skimmed the last few pages.

Awesome start and meh finish. Clear the show is going to turn on some sort of conflict with Javi.

Glad Marlene is finally dead. I was thinking for awhile she'd be the only survivor.

As graphic as this show can be, what always turned my stomach the most was her relationship with Wyatt. That was abuse.

April TV premieres are nuts so far...

April 18 - Better Call Saul - Season 6

April 24 - Barry - Season 3

April 29 - Ozark - Season 4 - Part 2

Plus, S3 of Atlanta and then Moon Knight debut the last week of March, along with a ton of other notable stuff in March/April as well. Looking at the complete list, I've never seen this much quality TV being produced and premiered at once. With Covid finally dying down, if feels like the all the streamers are finally starting to realize their full output potential...
