It's pretty much just seven on seven chaos until there is a clear sign from the gods. Either the accuser yields or dies, or the accused does.bonfarr said:
So what are the rules of engagement in the Royal Rumble to come? In all of the Trials by Combat shown it ends in death. With the 7 on 7 format is that still so or do they fight until the one making the accusation yields?
Did they explain who the one/eyed old Knight is? He's the one that accused Egg of stealing the horse but I don't recall his backstory.

If memory serves, the one eyed knight is Ser Robyn. (Not that Sir Robin.)

The comedic interludes are what makes this show so great. Dunk gives a stirring speech about knights and honor and the knight that stands up in the crowd builds to an emotional crescendo then the guy blows ass and everyone laughs at Dunk. Completely unexpected humor makes it so grea

Also back to my Shrek theory Ser Duncan says "you'd have served a donkey were it squire-less."

Lord this episode was good. The best thing on TV right now IMO. Great characters, awesome story. Comedy mixed in just the right amount.

During Raymin getting knighted and Dunks speech there was a quick flashback to Ser Arlen. It gave the perspective of Dunk looking up to him, much like Raymun was looking up, and Ser Arlen cocking his head and giving a smirk.
I took this to mean that he Dunk thought he would be knighted only to be denied. Also it seemed that Dunk didn't know how to knighted Raymun all which points to him not actually being a knight.

‘A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS’ showrunner Ira Parker on the Game of Thrones theme in Episode 4:

“The reason (the song) is revisited in episode four is because ‘the call’ is there. This is the moment. This is fucking ‘Go Time.’ And it hits, obviously, very different at this… pic.twitter.com/yXGDmPNBdZ

Question - I am an avid Game of Thrones fan and have watched GOT and DOD and read all the books (including the Dunk and Egg stories and the World of Ice and Fire). My husband, on the other hand, has never watched anything Game of Thrones related or read any of the books. Would he be able to start AKOT7K and understand what's going on, or is a baseline level of Westeros knowledge needed for it to make sense?
