If Dunk would have just kept beating him until he screamed yield, Baelor would likely be alive. That thought does keep sticking with me.

I saw it speculated somewhere that Dunk actually dies when he initially falls to the ground and the gods of the seven brought him back because his cause was just.
Of course it ended up with the death of Baelor who would have been a great ruler of Westeros but this is why I argue that the fatal blow was after the horn sounded because it was out of the gods of seven hands at that point.
Either way just fantastic storytelling from Martin.

Sure looked like he took the blow to the back of the head after the fight but before the horn sounded.
On a separate thought, on first viewing I found that time so stressful. We had already heard the "yield" but nobody else had. I had that Game of Thrones feeling Dunk was going to get attacked dragging him to withdraw the accusation.
I think that was also what made Baelors death hit harder because I was just starting to freaking relax after waiting for disaster the whole stressful fight scene. Classic GRRM.

This actually happened in the book.
When dunk is looking around the field observing Raymun, Baelor and Lyonel - Aerion reaches for his morningstar. Dunk kicks him then proceeds to drag him to the viewing stand

Surprised that Ira didn't add that or the director of the episode. Of course I was so drained at that point I didn't need another scare but it's certainly on point for the character of Aerion and not surprised it's in the novella.
I did LOVE the way he tossed Aerion aside like a rag doll after he withdrew his accusation.

I think how brutally Dunk beat his face in like a pulp made up for it.
I think the audience - book readers included were so emotionally beaten up (ironic) due to how much damage Dunk took. It was drastically more violent than the book.

Apparently there's a war going on between BB fans and AKOTSK fans on IMDb right now.
Ozymandias has held a perfect 10 score for over a decade and is now sitting at 9.8 and falling due to review bombing.
This is in retaliation for BB fans trying to tank the score for AKOTSK episode 5 which apparently was getting uncomfortably close to the #1 spot.

Nice ending, I didn't expect any fireworks but what a sweet resolution to the story. Egg once again defies his father, Dunk gets closure with Ser Arlen, and it sets up perfectly for their next adventure.

Freaking seven-episode season, what a joke. You can barely just start truly getting into a show by the 7th episode.
