Reports are that Zelensky is ready to sign now. Evidently caught a lot of heat back home from parliament.

Murphy got his media moment so they can bash Trump to paint him as the villain and push his Putin's Puppet narrative. Zelenskyy hasn't done Ukraine any favors because I guarantee you Trump's going to penalize them for this stunt.


Rubio said on the record that the deal was ready to be signed a week ago in Ukraine but it was Zelenskyy who insisted that he sign it on DC in the White House. Dollars to donuts that there is NSA accessible communications between Zelenskyy and Murphy or Murphy's staff setting up this entire thing way prior to his trip here. I posted video of Zelenskyy meeting with the Democrat Senators and shows them actually bowing to greet him. Klobuchar Murphy Bernie and Coons.

Murphy's never been a smart guy, and now I think he is 'on his own' with his likely more-intelligent wife leaving him just in the past few months. Zelensky coked up sitting down to take coaching advice from that idiot is frankly damning to him.

The white house may not be willing to approve the previous deal even if Z-man comes crawling back. It had been significantly watered down to Ukraine's benefit.

The bottom line is the ball is in Ukraine/Europe's court now, and they don't have a brain trust any smarter than Murphy about how to end or win the war.

Reports that a deal is ready to be signed is just a talking point deals are never complete until the signature

Using the US Canada Mexico trade agreement from 6 years ago even after deals are signed negotiations continue

VDH points out why Trump singled out the mineral resources. They are located in disputed regions, thus that would push Putin back some when establishing a DMZ. Also, Zelensky just doesn't get it, at all.

But want to point out that none of that is relevant from the Ukranian perspective.
The man was in the US to get the backing of the new US President. He failed spectacularly. He let his personal feelings and ego get in the way of what was needed for Ukraine.

Now , he can resign, come back with his tail between his legs, or depend on Europe - which doesn't have the capacity to support a perennial stalemate with Russia.

Also, if Zelensky is smart, he will replace his Ambassador to the US. She is allied too closely with the Democrats.

Subtext I am seeing is they stand with Ukraine and will provide them more, maybe even including troops if the US promises to protect their butts if things go wrong? Again why I am concerned about Article 5 here.

    • to seize the assets of his political opposition or
    • ban TV stations opposed to his rule
    • seize control of the national TV and place under the control of the government
