FWIW, He's not running a vegan senate campaign. That vegan stuff is from 4 or 5 years ago.

It doesn't matter when he did it. If he was dumb enough to do it then, it tells you all you need to know about his judgement and his ideology.

His lame attemps now to make a public statement of him eating BBQ ribs - with gloves on his limp wristed little hands - just confirms who he is.

Just pointing that timeline out because I had not been aware about it. Either way, what someone else eats is of no concern to me as long as it is legal. There are a lot more important issues that I would rather hear about.

Being a vegan and extolling the virtues of being meat free as a good thing for society (which he did) is not compatible as a senator of the largest cattle producing state in the country.

How else will he sell out our industries?

Beto back in 2019 made a statement about taking away AK47s and AR-15s. That sound bite came back to haunt him in 2022 when running for Governor. Doesn't matter if it was 4, 8, 12 years ago, low t said it. Unless low t no longer feels that way, in which case, how hypocritical of him.

I think all of the pearl clutching over the possibility that Talarico was a vegan at some point in his life is stupid. Sue me. All it does is draw more unwanted comparisons to Paxton's misdeeds and that is something that needs to be avoided at all costs.

Beto coming for our guns and Talarico eating vegan for awhile 4 or 5 years ago shouldn't even be used in the same sentence together. There is no serious comparison between the two.

Wrong.

They both expose radical leftists as being leftists who then lie about what they want to do after being elected

He's not a vegan. So, it makes no difference. I think all of this is stupid. Go back through his voting record as a state legislator and find something there to pin on him.

He did say we should stop eating meat to save the world... so keep using his own words against himself. What he says now is for US Senator. He cant say those same things now and must change what he had thought and believed. EXPOSE HIM FOR WHO HE REALLY IS

Are you saying that anyone who in the past or currently is on a vegan diet is a radical leftist? Has your wife never forced you on some new fad diet like low carb, low fat, no sugar, vegetarian, high protein, or no gluten? Did you stay on that diet forever or go back to how you had always eaten prior to the diet?

It's a real gotcha.

You just dont want it to be added to the already long list because it resonates with a normal male in Texas

It's none of that. It's that he said that meat is bad for the environment and his campaign then was meat free.

He either meant it, or he didn't and said it anyway. Either of those is really bad for him in this campaign.

It's not a stupid gotcha. It's a window into who he really is. Climate change alarmist. He jumped in with both feet, and took a shot at cattle ranchers and meat producers in the process.

Now he's trying to claw it back and it comes off as disingenous and politically expedient.

He's lying to the public about how he really feels because his stance is politically damaging to him now. He's as fake about climate change as he is about his Christianity.

I'm trying to tell you that you need to find a real gotcha that will change people's minds about Talarico. If you can prove a link between him eating vegan 4-5 years ago and voting against the cattle industry as a state legislator, THEN you have a real gotcha. Until then independents and moderate Republicans are going to pass off the vegan stuff as nonsense.

Are you trying to blame things on women? Bold take.

No, I dont go for fad diets.

I'd never go vegetarian or vegan either.

You done trying to play off soy boy behavior?

I'm not trying to play off any behavior. I'm trying to get you to stop focusing on a stupid gotcha that isn't even a real gotcha and find something real that sticks.

It's a real gotcha.

You just dont want it to be added to the already long list because it resonates with a normal male in Texas

You don't have the best/most famous type of barbecue in the world because the state likes vegans haha

I don't care what is added to your list. I just hope you find something worse on him than he was a vegan 4 or 5 years ago. Have you looked back at his votes in the state legislature during the the timeframe he might have possibly been eating vegan? Anything that hurt the cattle industry?

Joe about slandering The Bible consistently, pushing for Texas to be able to abort babies, and pushing transgnderism on kids?

Those are all far worse and that idiot has said all of this nonsense multiple times on camera

You trying to discount my opinion that massively hurts Talarico because I don't explain to you beyond the very basic flaw that it starts on?

Dont worry, ranchers like myself don't need to have it broken down how an anti-meat soy boy is bad for cattle

It wasn't just about being a vegan. It's also about why he was promoting it - climate change.

Neither are politically popular in Texas. Both stances will hurt him in this election. Along with a lot of other nutty ideas.

Youre so very wrong.

Add it to his list of things that he has proudly said and now denies.

He is eliminating his own trust by disputing everything he has previously said.

It is important to expose all of his flaws.

With his anti-meat status followed with a TERRIBLE pro meat picture, he has lost countless votes in Texas who will never believe a word he says, rightly.

Even Ted Cruz is taking free shots at this soy boy

No.

They all are front and center.

There is NOTHING that he has been for/against that works well in Texas.

Use them all and have them all show each voter, with different leading concerns, how Talarico fails

You're wanting us to ignore things that hit hard with some voters. They might not be the biggest group or have voted much before but when you know a senator candidate is or has been coming for what you want to eat... you dont mess with that

I voted for Paxton, knowing it's a risk. The incumbent election rate is huge, particularly for Senators. (I think disgustingly so, but it's a fact.) Turning that advantage down is a significant choice, not to be taken lightly.

I voted for Paxton in the primary because I was underwhelmed with Cornyn's voting record. In the run-off, there was that fact PLUS Trump's endorsement.

Paxton is far from the ideal candidate. He's got mostly good conservative stances, but his negatives and lack of name recognition (regards to the Senate seat, anyway) mean he has much less margin for error versus ANY Democrat.

I hope Paxton wins. Otherwise, I'll rue the day I didn't vote for Cornyn.

Regardless of who wins this round, I hope in 6 years there's a true conservative Republican candidate that won't have the downsides of Paxton and who can start a conservative legacy opposite Ted Cruz. Ted is nearly perfect policy-wise, and even though he's a favorite target of the left, he usually runs intellectual circles around their criticisms. Sure, he'll always have 40ish percent of Texans that will absolutely hate him, but that's going to be true for any R.

What recognition does Talarico have to a US Senate seat in a red state?

He was part of the Democratic kabal that ran away to another state because they didn't want to do their job. That proves he is not a serious person. If elected to DC will he run away if he doesn't get his way? That's what i would focus on.
