It's kind of hard to believe Aggie soccer couldn't land a successful sitting HC. But your intel sounds promising and he's seen and been part of several years of success, so it's not a bad risk to bring him in for his first big HC role. Will be fun to watch how he does this.

I, like others, would be curious to see what the experts have to say on this hire. On paper it looks promising, he has a good resume but everything is as an assistant coach. I'll be interested to see if he can use what he's learned under Pensky at FSU and become a successful head coach himself. Hopefully he can have a Trisha Ford/ Jamie Morrison effect and get this program back on track fast!

That's going to be hard until he gets on campus. He played in the MLS for a little over a dozen years then volunteered at Kennesaw State for a year before joining FSU as an assistant coach. He doesn't have much of a coaching resume to go on before becoming a head coach. His first couple of years at FSU, they won with Krikorian's players and this year FSU won with the best compilation of athletes NIL could buy. There is potential but he is still a bit of an unknown.

I didn't realize it was against the rules to announce hiring an assistant coach while they're still in the post season. Or this wasn't the top candidate and this is who finally said yes.

Well again if this guy was the choice all along, I don't see what scared rule of college soccer would,have been broken by not announcing it weeks ago.

I have no idea.

From what it sounds like, he was the target for quite some time. Maybe he wanted to wait until after the season so he could visit and see the facilities. Maybe he was waiting to see if the FSU coach was leaving and he would take over as HC there.

There are many, many possibilities for the timing, but it is irresponsible, in my opinion, to assume that the delay was due to people turning us down. There seems to be a desire by many on here to assume the worst in our AD, and I don't think, based on his other hires, that assumption is justified.

It looks like the website might be in the process of removing ALL the assistants from the website. When you go to the new Bobby profile, the drop down menu where you can choose the other coaches only lists him. If you go directly to the other assts profiles then Bobby's profile is the only one and the email addresses have been changed to a generic soccer email. Maybe they are just in the middle of modifying but thought it was interesting. As a first time HC he might actually be the one to want to keep an asst or two and a director of ops, at least for a transition year. Considering the help he will need with camps, this might be the reason the coaches were being told they had to keep Strader and Director of Ops, as in Trev didn't want to flush down millions of dollars in camp revenue. Our Director of Ops is the main guy overseeing the setup of the camps.

Only the new coach is listed on the roster page at this time. Not even any players. Have to keep a close eye on it.

I mean at least he didn't pull out his phone and pretend it was a red card and give it to the referee

I'm excited about this. Bit of an unknown quantity, but that's ok. It certainly could have been a lot worse. We 100% did have a few coaches turn down the job, and I frankly like Shuttlesqorth more than those that did.

We did in basketball, yes, by one high profile coach.

Many who pondered if our new HC was still in the playoffs hit the nail on the head.

Last night's game was an absolute wonder to watch. Skill, speed, aggression, and the FSU goalie was unstoppable.

If he was going to hire this type of coach I would think Trev would have done pretty extensive talking to those that would be able to provide solid info on the guy. He has moved up quick after a solid pro career, that should say something. Usually the pro guys that only think they are good coaches get found out pretty quick. FSU made him an Assoc HC after two years so they clearly saw something in him. Can't argue with that. It's done now so we will see.
