I'm getting concerned about this hiring process. From what I've heard we've been turned down by multiple coaches because of some of the constraints seemingly put on them to come here. If you are trying to force a coach or a Dir of Ops that's ridiculous and you should be turned down. No good coach would walk into an unknown situation like that when they already have their own staff. Also, the financial commitment doesn't seem to be there either, meaning the grass at A&M isn't greener than what they have at their current school.
There are still some good names out there that would come, but Trev needs to get his act together quickly. His hires have been less than stellar so far in his tenure and he is beginning to get a reputation of not being an AD coaches want to work for. That's not good. However, I still have faith he can make a good hire and allow the new coach to make his own decisions. If this hire fails, it will be even more difficult to get the next hire right (see Florida). A&M should be a Top 15 program in soccer. We do need some folks to step up with NIL though and G's publicizing of it hasn't helped our situation.

Man, I was so excited for this new hiring process and thought we could bring in a successful proven coach to bring us back to relevancy. I mean I still think a traffic coach is an upgrade from the last guy, I wanted a home run hire.

A&M volleyball missed the tourney 2 seasons in a row, hired a first year head coach in volleyball and he made the sweet sixteen in year 2 and at a minimum in year 3.
There's still hope we can get someone out there with so much passion for the sport, has connections in the soccer community.
However, I think Jamie nailed his assistant hires.

You mean like firing your coach a year removed from winning the SEC to hire a perennial power house head coach away?
Yeah we can dream about having an AD that makes strong decisive moves when there's a chance to upgrade

So Schloss and Buzz didn't like or want to meet with Trev. We settled for an assistant in baseball, swung and miss in basketball hires, now this mess. Oh but one solid football regular season and he's now one of the highest paid AD's and signed till 2031.
Thankfully track and tennis have coaches that have been here for ages and ages and won him a couple national championships.
I'm sad that I'm a few months he's going to have to hire a new women's bball coach. that program along with soccer… oh how two great programs have fallen

I said halfway through the season that they wanted to go after Bell and I got told here I was dumb and no way they fire a coach who had 2 more years on a contract… for some programs winning is what matters. For Trev, losing is okay, as long as it saves some money.

I didn't want to say anything, since I'm still dealing with my current employer. But since Dragon has let the cat out of the bag, I will be bringing my three years of Florida high school JV girls soccer cred to Aggieland. You can rest easy knowing that, even if our next recruiting class has zero soccer experience, that's okay. I've totally dealt with that before. I look forward to seeing you all in the stands cheering on the countless moral victories coming our way.

There's no recipe for a successful coaching hire in any sport. Sometimes the can't misses miss (we know this too well). Sometimes the up and comer or small program coach kills it.
No argument that this search doesn't seem to have been handled well. But that doesn't mean it may still not be a good outcome, no matter who we get. The right person who doesn't have skins on the wall yet might be the perfect fit. Time will tell.
Which is why I'll have some faith and patience regardless of hire. College sports is completely different than just a few years ago.
We should all be disappointed in this hiring process, not at the potential outcome. Any coach is most likely an upgrade from the person we previously had. The new coach undoubtedly deserves our full support, and I'm excited to just start a whole new era.

That was an oversimplification and slanted version of events.

Huh? You think we are holding off on naming a coach until the dead period?
What would being "announced" or have to do with a coach being able to watch players at a showcase?
Our top recruits are already able to talk to other schools. What would waiting until the dead period do other than prevent our OWN new coach from talking to recruits or potential transfers?
There is zero benefit to waiting a single day to announce one a decision has been made. And a whole lot of reasons to get them going as soon as possible.
No better way to announce our programs resurrection than appointing the hire during the dead period.
At this point, what's the sense of urgency to sign a soccer coach. Doesn't look like anybody really knows who's being courted at the moment and at what salary.
Are we missing out on the portal? Maybe they don't want the current group of recruits to start hitting the portal? So yeah it might be a good idea to retain the assistants that got them here in spite of G. Whose coaching philosophy, was pretty much panned by the girls leaving the program the last couple of seasons. We obviously had the talent, the former staff couldnt seem to fight its way out of a wet paper bag to get it to produce.
I wouldn't want them signing someone just for the sake of having a HC. Nightmares of "Bird" in volleyball keep creeping in. And of Jo Evans in sotball whose time was up 2 to 3 years before her contract expired. Fortunately We dodged the bullet of talent drain by hiring Trisha Ford. Does anybody really miss Jo Evans at this point. Hopefully that is what we are doing in soccer. Identify a competent coach who can keep the freshmen class intact, add talent via transfers and hit the ground running next fall with a team that can make the tournament. A lot to ask for, I know.

why would we wait until dead period to announce. The delay is just hurting us more than helping us. Duke just got out of the tournament and picked up a top portal player from SC.

Whoever said it's gonna be Strader getting promoted for a minimal amount is now my bet -

How do you find this info ? Ive tried finding soccer portal info on players but its hard to find
The whole objection by some folks to people sharing what they know is fascinating. I guess those objectors must hate education , which necessarily involves one person sharing information that another person does not know, simply to give that hearer the benefit of receiving that information. I'd never have thought college graduates would oppose knowledge transfer or accuse the knowledge transferor of being self-exalting. Teachers are bad, I guess?

I assumed an announcement would be made today since some on here said they knew who the coach would be. But alas, we're still coachless and the mess continues…
17 Division 1 schools have hired a coach this off-season. 4 other SEC schools have hired a new coach. Only two power 4 schools remain without a coach, us and UCLA.
It's been 44 days since G "retired"
