Some of these players are already in the crosshairs of our prospective new coach just at their old program.

Is that a general or specific reference to "our prospective new coach"?

If it's Lenard, it'll have to wait… Baylor advances to the sweet 16. Kansas does as well taking down Louisville. TCU plays tomorrow

I doubt that top tier players in the portal will make hasty decisions. I anticipate they will wait to see how the coaching changes settle, then add each school's personal appeal and NIL offer before they commit.

Baylor with a really good chance to advance to the Final Four..... do people still have doubts? I know I don't.

TCU has a really good chance to go to the Final Four also. A&M could be waiting a long time to announce their head coach

Or we could name one mid week next week after Kansas loses to Duke on Sunday
(I have no inside info, but I like Lie).

I know you aren't going to like it, but I still have some doubts. Baylor is having an amazing year and the loss by ND yesterday makes their path to final 8 a lot more likely. I thought Wisconsin looked like the better team yesterday, but that PK for Baylor was a fair call. Regardless, a single year doesn't convince me that the coach is great. I think she has done a great job this year with a very experienced team, but they were mediocre/bad her first 3 years there and I wouldn't be surprised if they take a step back next season with so many key contributors graduating.

However, I think Baylor and LSU coaches are probably the most likely candidates at this point. Was thinking Miss State might be in the mix, but think that would've been announced by now. I guess TCU is possible, but I'd be really surprised to see him leave TCU for A&M. I heard Washington's coach name thrown out this week as a possibility, which is interesting but I would assume also unlikely. Hoping we find out soon enough.

What is the summary about Lenard and her coaching resume?

Spent 14 years as D2 head coach at Dallas Baptist, with really strong regular season success. Made D2 playoffs often, but furthest she ever advanced was elite 8 one time. Currently in her 4th season as Baylor head coach, taking over after a 2021 season in which Baylor went 8-5-6. Her Baylor team record:

2022: 4-11-2 (no ncaa tourney)
2023: 9-7-3 (no ncaa tourney)
2024: 8-8-5 (no ncaa tourney)
2025-14-4-4 (lost 0-4 to byu in conference tourney 2nd round, plays ncaa 3rd round on Sunday)

Grad/Senior/Junior heavy team this year has done very well. Many on this board like her style of play and think she knows Texas recruiting landscape.

Hidden, you're respected on this board and have alot of history here. What are your concerns with Lenard? Who is your preferred coach to be leading A&M soccer next season?

Based on what I'm hearing...would be a major surprise is Leonard isn't the coach after the Baylor season ends

it's just not as impressive as I'd like to see to take over this job. She had success at the NCAA Division II level and at Baylor has been okay. I would have preferred a coach with a more proven track record in the P4 level. Having said that, if she's given the funds and support, she can be successful here.

Also, it's certainly possible that the A&M job is not as attractive as it was 5-10 years ago. We've fallen behind in several areas, especially facilities. I hope Trev has this on his list to address eventually once baseball is finished.

Certainly possible. He has it rolling up there and A&M isn't as attractive as it used to be.

You mean we let another coach stay well beyond their expiration and subsequently crash all the momentum we had?

SHOCKED!

Looking at facilities does TCU even have any seats, it looks like all berms. They do have new locker room.

Can TCU match the nil we could offer? Do they give full scholarships? And can they match salary?

Do teams ever change coaches when they have momentum?
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

Many teams don't let the slide continue for 5/6/7 seasons when the writing is on the wall

They have a handful of girls with 3 or 4 goals, but their star (Big 12 Midfielder of the Year) had 10 goals and is a senior. A grad student is second in goals with 5. More than half their goals this season came from players who are done with eligibility now.

Ohio State is a really nice side. Even though it went to OT, Baylor was significantly outplayed today. with 10 shots compared to 34 for Ohio State. Still a really strong season for Baylor, but I would agree with someone else's comment that Lie from Kansas might be a better hire.

Based on his resume, it doesn't look like he has ever been a head coach at any level. Maybe he looks older than he is, but looks like he is in his 50's? But I am sure he can recruit in Texas.

Higgy is great. However, I'm told he declined to interview. Which could be because Bell may have interviewed. My guess is, if Bell comes, he'll want to bring Higgy but that could be an expensive prop (and I'd expect TCU to counter for at least one of the two. Both are great guys IMO. They've done a great job and they never stop recruiting. TCU doesn't necessarily have all the resources of A&M but they are an attractive alternative for players and they are very selective when it comes to recruiting. They know their system and they know who will fit well and they'll pursue them until they get them.

Lenard would be fine, I guess, but quite underwhelming. Very surprised she is the primary target as I don't think she would make anyone's list of the top 50 college coaches in the country. Seems a solid coach whose main selling point is she lives nearby. Was hoping we had our sights set higher.
