The sunbelt team we tied is the 4 seed in the sunbelt tournament lol, don't think we'd have won the sunbelt

What about Colby Hale from Arkansas?

His teams are always at the top of the SEC standings and have won several regular season titles. However, his post season success isn't great. They've been to the SEC tourney final at least 7 times since he's been there but have yet to actually win the title. At a school like A&M I feel like you'd want a coach who has proven success in both the regular and post season. With that being said should we go after Hale he certainly wouldn't be the worst possible hire. Who knows maybe he could have more success at A&M

I also want someone with experience recruiting internationally. We got boat raced by Georgia and LSU and they had multiple multiple international players. With how little success we've been having, recruiting, not sure why G didn't resort to that lately. Track, tennis, basketball, have all been doing that. Not sure why soccer didn't. Could've really changed the game. We've had a handful in the past. Not sure if it was by choice or just laziness recruiting.

guy has won 7 titles in 10 years

how many G win the last 10?

also the SEC tourney is worthless to win as it just kills your players for the real tourney

Hale ain't coming but he is the best option so far

So can somebody learn me up on soccer portal, signing day, etc. So what dates do we need to have new coach and have a chance to fix our, issues with bring in better portal players?

Or,will this be we hire new coach after they stop or eliminated from post season?

It's very interesting that the two coaches brought up most are Bell and Hale. Their names might rhyme but their styles are diametrically opposed to each other. Once is very possession oriented while the other is chaotic constant pressure. Both have found some success with their styles in their conferences. Which style would work best for College Station?

Oh yeah I agree. I think he'd be a great hire but I also know there have been several on here complaining about how G has not won a title in several years or made it very far in the NCAAs. I was just pointing out that Hale has not had much success in the post-season if that's what we're looking for.

You're really in tune with club ball in Texas, which one is played more. I know it's been mentioned how Solar plays a lot of possession ball. And also which style would recruits and transfers flock too.

I'd really love an established coach to come in and bring a few of his players while also attacking the portal.

Does anyone have any insight or a breakdown on our 2026 class? How many are ranked, etc

I think the top 3 are solid, but don't know anything about the others:

TDS #33-Ireland Churchill (Forward, CA Slammers HBK); Absolute stud and goal scorer. Have seen her play a couple of times and she is exactly the type of goal scorer we didn't have this year. Plays on one of the top ECNL teams in the country and was ECNL All American last year.

TDS #58-Finley Latcher (For/Mid CA Slammers HBK); Was out last year with an ACL, so I haven't seen her play but should be good based on ranking. Played a year up the last several years, but currently on the same team as Churchill.

TDS #82-Sami Ruiz (Mid CA Legends); Fast and skilled. Plays on another top ECNL team and was ECNL All American last year.

Again, I don't know much about the others, but hope the new coach keeps all of these three. I wonder if any of these three are planning to start in January and how the coaching change could alter their plans. 2027 commitments includes TDS #16 in the country, another forward who is a true goal scorer.

BTW, I understand we have 7 in the 2026 class committed, but only have 3 seniors leaving. Will need others to leave in order to stay below roster max. 1 of the 7 is a GK, and can't imagine we will keep 4 GK's on the roster with the new cap. I am sure other current players are likely to leave to get us below the cap, but how much room do we have to get transfers, unless the new coach is ready to cut players.

I would like to see us play more possession-based soccer. Between Solar, FCD, and some Sting teams you can recruit DFW. SoCal where we have had success in the past also produce girls conducive to the more possession-based style. At one point this year three former Solar players who had also transferred from A&M were making significant contributions to TCU (until Leb go hurt). ND, Vande, and TCU all play a more possession-based style of play and A&M transfers have all found success at those schools. Houston and Austin/SA and some other clubs in DFW will tend to produce players more in line with Arkansas' style.

I still think our best bet would be to make a run at Mark Krikorian (he didn't retire, just parted ways with the Spirit) and let him bring in one of his former assistants to groom to take over. Bring MKs son in as a GA Analyst. If not, you may take a look at Mike Bristol (a former FSU assistant) and the director of player personnel/asst coach at Washington Spirit and hire him as the head coach and see if you can get Imaizumi to come with him as the assistant. Bring Ahmad back from USC and you would be happy with what they could build.

I'm excited for the future of this program! I really hope we knock this hire out of the park and we can establish ourselves as one of the premier programs in the country. I want to sell our Ellis Field every match, and I want confetti flying everywhere. I want people to fear Texas A&M again. I graduated a few years ago, but it really intrigues me when I see you all talk about how much fun you had attending games or watching deep tournament runs. Students the past few years have no connection to Aggie soccer. I want to engage the Aggie community and students. The right coach can put a spark back into this program and we can take the next step! It's time!

TDS #33-Ireland Churchill (Forward, CA Slammers HBK);

her parents could not have picked a worse first name for that last name- Churchill is despised in Ireland

Some big names being thrown around; I just don't see Trev paying anywhere near what G was making to get one of these coaches. I understand the camp $ is significant but I'm sure guys like Bell and Hale have their own camps.

Hoops and baseball didn't go after P4 established coaches. I don't see Trev breaking that trend for soccer.

Yeah I'm sure we went after big name coaches just failed to do so, and both were searches well into the portal season. This search we'll have lots of time. Also, soccer isn't basketball or even baseball money. A big difference between a top 5 or 10 paid coach vs a top 50 paid coach is about $50-100,000. What's that to an athletic budget that saved on not firing G last year and retained a losing women's basketball coach. The ripple effect of donations TMF is gonna receive after a successful football season will be astronomical. There's also a lot of people with money happy we are moving on from G

Correct, money difference in coaches isn't anything like other men's sports. I don't see money being an issue. It'll be more of what other support can we provide to new coach. Specifically NIL and then salaries for asst coaches

This would be a great idea for sure. I've been mentioning Krikorian for years now, just don't know if he has that fire in the belly at his age. If he does, then hire him. I do want a pure developer of players with lots of connections in the club world so we can land elite prospects again. That and a coach that connects with our donors to solicit the NIL funds needed to compete at the highest level.

Hoops and baseball went after the biggest of names in P4 ranks. Just didn't land them and went after their second choices.

This hire is different, not worried about holding onto a roster like baseball or continuing on momentum like basketball. Soccer coach will be given the opportunity to build from ground up.

TSwift, do you have personal knowledge of this? Historically, there have been only a very small handful of donors who have put any significant $ into soccer at A&M. The current AD has not made it a priority to communicate with them. So, I wonder whether there will truly be any BMA input into this hire.

Yes thanks, to my job within the athletic department as a student, but I mean aside from a few posters, who's content with losing consistently... many people were really upset last off season that he wasn't fired

Why not a Nick Zimmerman type, if not him? Young, high energy, seems to have a strong pulse on relating to his players

He'd be a home run hire.....I'm not too keen on hiring a coach like MK (65 yrs old) or even Bell (55ish) for that matter.

Bell, Hale…they've already created their nests. Doesn't make sense for them to change at this stage of their careers. Maybe Trev goes into the pro leagues and finds an assistant or someone there.

Hopefully Trev will take into account the style of soccer he wants played at A&M. We've seen too much kick and run soccer the last few years. If we get a coach who plays a more direct style I think we will lose out on a lot of top talent in North Texas and the country who come from more possession style clubs. If we go with a coach know for a great possession style of soccer we will widen our player pool for recruiting. I like the playing style of an FSU or TCU, so I'm hoping for a similar possession style coach. With all the resources A&M has we should be competing every year for a conference title, but it all starts with getting the right coach and their ability to recruit the top talent in the country. Hoping Trev makes the right decision for the future of Aggie soccer.

You think Trev Alberts is thinking about style of play for women's soccer? I guess that could happen. But I think that's probably item number 18 on his top 5 list of considerations for the new soccer coach. Sorry

Eric Bell and TCU win back to back Big 12 regular season titles. Emma Yolinsky on a tear recently with 3 goals in the last 4 games

Offer him the job now

#1 TCU falls to #8 BYU in the first round of Big 12 tournament in PK's today. I think they lost to Kansas in last year's Big 12 tournament. Has to be a bummer to host these other teams on your field in the next round on Wednesday, but they should still be a high seed in NCAA tourney.

I also value a possession style offense and think we should be looking for a younger coach with success using it but I also doubt that Trev is even considering style of play UNLESS he has actually talked to coaches he has known in the past and/or the remaining staff and players and THEY strongly suggested it. Note that the same coaches should also have a history of good defenses - this is often overlooked when we talk about the style of offense.

We will eventually see what happens. Note that once a choice is made, regardless of who it is, there will be applause and criticism - guaranteed !!

Anyone who doesn't think Marcus Wood at Dallas Baptist isn't in the running is really missing things. Proven winner, followed similar route as G did going thru Hardin-Simmons. He has exceptional relationships with his players, recruits well and gets more than the sum of the parts out of his team. The move from D3 to D1 was just a blip for him. His style translates well to all levels of players. Plugged into Texas recruiting. He has previous connections to A&M thru the camps before starting his own camps. Take a look. He's ready for the big step up.

He meets my criteria. A younger coach with ties in the Texas soccer scene are priorities
